ITSO An Eyesore…

With my mounting obsession with jewelry I’ve run out of space in my jewelry box, and the necklace hanger has finally gone onto that big place in the sky (it’s only about as old as I am, I inherited it from my Nana).  Having jewelry lurking around in no particular place or all jumbled up in what jewelry holders I have is no longer working for me.  Picking jewelry out for the day sends dread all over my body some mornings.  Most days I just wear what I wore the day before so I don’t have to deal with it all.

Anyway, while wandering Target last night I found a sale in the storage/bin area.  I’d never noticed much in this section before aside from the bins that slide under the bed.  Apparently they now have a whole section of products that you can mix & match that all fit together called 'itso'.  I found some of their plastic storage bins on clearance & figured I could build my own jewelry bin box.  I substituted some of the plastic bins they have with little trinket boxes I found in the dollar section and have left the bottom section open to fill in later with whatever I may need.

Since I only bought what was on clearance my color choices were limited.  By limited I mean I had a choice of blue storage cubes or blue storage cubes.

In the little stackable square bins I had orange/green or orange/green.

In the narrow trays I had white or white.
Target only had red shown

I think you get my drift.  I had the most options with the boxes I found in the dollar section as there were three different patterns.  They were all in the same color schemes but there were big dots, little dots, and zig zags.  I would have gone all big dots but there were only two left.  So I grabbed one little dot to place in-between to shake things up a bit.  For the most part all the colors go well enough together considering.  Luckily where I plan for the unit to go is in my closet which I keep closed at all times, except for when in use, and even sometimes then I close it behind me to keep the cats out (especially Remington since he tends to get into trouble whenever he sneaks in there and by trouble I mean he makes a huge mess if possible).

The unit should work will with the ghetto fabulous lingerie dresser I now use.  It’s a Sterilite 3 drawer unit.  Stacked together I can only imagine who rockin’ it will all be.  Hopefully, it’ll be functional but sometimes the great ideas in my head aren’t so great in the real world.  Guess I will find out tonight.

mine is clear drawers with blue structure

I could stop letting the pretty red clearance tags catch my eye (they’re almost as eye catching to me as pretty sparkly diamonds) and pay for an actual jewelry box that would hold all my bobbles but that would cost me more than I am willing to pay at the moment.   It’s the same reason I’m still using a plastic unit for my lingerie drawer.  I have a list of furniture I want & I keep wavering on if a new couch or dresser should be at the top of the list.  We won’t even get into the fact that I can’t find/decide the actual dresser or couch I want…

Jewelry boxes like this cost anywhere from $399 to $4,000

sorry it's blurry but grabbing photos off the internet is tricky sometimes

Anyway, once I’ve finished my project I’ll post a picture.
