WIWW:W15 & Thursday Latelies #19 Double Header (or is it Hitter?)

Writers block has given me a big ol' case of the meh's lately.  I've tried to rack my brain to come up with something to get me from "meh" to over sharing too much on here but usually during the "racking" time I just end up falling asleep on the couch.  Something has been zapping my energy as of late and most of the time I feel like I'm in zombie mode.  Some days I could seriously just nod off while sitting at a stop light on my drive into work.

Since I've just now decided to do Thursday Latelies this week I figured I'd post my WIWW pic that I was to... I don't know...bored to share yesterday.  My WIWW posts aren't known for their superb photography but this week's photo seems to lack even a bit of worthiness to it to post.  I love the outfit so that's not the reason.  I think the problem was I didn't have enough time to get more than 4 photos.  There's no detail shots either.  It just is what it is.  I know now you are all so excited to see it, aren't you.  Well, here it is...

Dress: Mossimo Target $4.98
Hot pink cami: Forever 21 $2.99
Belt: Kohls
Tights: Target $4

Cuff: Noah's Ark Creations, giveaway win
Cyrus is chilling on the bed in the background
and that blur attacking me is Remington (of course).
He was in all of my 4 shots but 1.  LOL, so I really didn't have a lot to work with this week.

I feel like I've been massively busy lately, while at the same time having nothing to do.  How that makes sense, I don't know, but it does.  At least to me anyway.  Between being in zombie mode & running around doing nothing I really didn't feel like I had anything to do my Thursday Latelies about.  I know the whole point of TL is to find the little things to be thankful for & to remind ourselves of the good in our lives but sometimes my brain is just too numb feeling to be able to think clearly enough to concentrate on something little worth sharing.  I know my thinking on that is totally messed up but it all rolls back to feeling all meh about everything.

This week I was just going to let Thursday slip by and hope nobody noticed me slinking around while trying to blend into the background with nothing to share.  But then I felt guilty since I've committed myself to Thursday Latelies and I believe in the reasoning behind them.  I look forward every week to watching Bex, Linda/Rose a la Mode, Shelly/GS Lillian, & Jenny/The Imagination of Jenny Lynne share their loves/gratefulness for the week.  I always feel a little bit lighter & things seem a bit brighter after watching what they have to share.  They don't always have something earth shattering to share so why do I feel like I need something substantial to share?  Positivity breeds positivity, right?!, so I need to start putting my share of positivity out there.

This week I am happy to share that it is my 14 year anniversary at work. Yes, I typed that right... 14 years.  It's insane, I know.  What can I say except that I don't like change, and I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up so what I currently have is a job.

It's a job that pays the bills.  It's a job that I am grateful for because I still have a place to go to to sit for 8 (9 counting lunch) hours a day.  I may not LOVE my job, it's not exciting, it's not glamorous, its not going to save the world but it IS a job.  Unlike so many other people out there I am lucky enough to have a job no matter how I may feel about it some days.  Believe it or not, at 14 years I'm not even close to some of the seniority around here.  Some have been working here since the doors opened, 25+ years.  Now that is insane.

In case you are wondering I am an Insurance Agent and I work for a family owned insurance agency who has 2 offices in the Valley.  I don't ever divulge who I work for because I made the mistake of doing so once (back in my Myspace days, before I had a "life" online).  The results were some crazy freak (crazies aren't always strangers) tracked me down through my work info & my boss ended up getting involved.  While they didn't get the intended results they were looking for, my boss didn't need to be involved & it was a headache I don't ever wish to repeat.  If that means I miss out on opportunities to drum up business then so be it.  Safety first.

Although today is a bit warm and I've shed my sweater & wish I could do so with my tights, I am also pretty darn grateful for sweaters and tights this week.  It's finally getting cold here in AZ and I have been snuggled up in some of my favorite sweaters.  And I've been able to still wear my new Mossimo Skater dresses from Target because of sweaters & tights.

Thursday Latelies #18

This week's Thursday Latelies is short & sweet.  Okay, short & semi-sweet...like dark chocolate.

Joining over at Bex...A Style Diary.  If you haven't already you seriously need to go check her out...she's ridiculously too cute this week, plus she has some very wise words that everyone needs to hear and be reminded of.

Edits/Notes:
* Question...why do these videos always pause at the most ridiculous faces someone can make??  Annoying.
* Happy Halloween...

* I'm also thankful that YouTube actually let me upload my video from my phone today.  I didn't bring my phone cord so I wouldn't have been able to post today had my video been longer or if YouTube was being difficult.

Thursday Latelies #17

I took a break from Thursday Latelies last week but I'm back and ready to join over at Bex...A Style Diary.  However, I didn't have time to do a video.

* Monday (the 24th) marked the 1 year anniversary of Remington joining our family.  What a difference a year can make!  He went from this...
to this...

and from this...
to this...

I kept thinking he should be more...tame now that he's a whole year old but he's still the same old little turd he's always been.  I looked up how old he is in cat years and it all makes since now.  In cat years he's 15 years old.  He's a moody turdy turdy teenager.  Lord, held the other cats!  In cat years Cyrus (12 yrs) is 60 and Parker (17 yrs) is 84 so they technically could be his grandpa and great grandma, instead of his siblings.   I'm afraid Remi's going to cause Cyrus to have a heart attack from pestering him the way he does.  Cyrus is such a grumpy old man!  I swear he acts older than Parker, though he doesn't have the crazy Alzheimer's episodes she gets every now and then.

* Speaking of Parker, this week I've been very grateful she's still around.  And aside from the few Alzheimer's episodes, being hard of hearing (or near deaf) and slightly blind Parker is in really great shape!  The last time she was in to see the vet he couldn't believe she was as old as she was.  Plus, Parker can still kick Remi's ass when he needs it.  I don't like to think of her as old though, I like to think of her as vintage.

I call her my little vintage cat.

* I've had an over abundance of cats this week.  Morris (formally called Chester) has started showing up daily again.  This time though he's brought a friend.  One that I think may actually be his son.  They have the same coloring and "MJ" (Morris Jr.) has the same face as Morris.

I've been trying to get these two little white kittens to let me pet them or to let me get close enough to get a good look at them for a few months now.  They aren't from the same litter, which I though was weird since they're the only two kittens running around..  Anyway, I have no idea which of the two kittens MJ is (the big or little one) because I haven't seen the second kitten around lately.  I think the stray population split their time between our complex and the complex across the street.  I always see the cats going into a storm drain that goes from our property and I think it has an opening across the street into a small community of condos or houses.

MJ is the sweetest little thing.  I can't tell if he's just young still or if he's going to be petite.  He's still a bit shy & leery of people but as long as Morris deems you okay MJ does too.  Yesterday I finally saw him in the daylight and was surprised he wasn't 100% white.  He's a cream coloring with tips of orange along his back, ears, face and tail.

Morris...

MJ...

* I've been able to spend time with my sister, niece, Karie, Jessica, Nicole and Sharon lately and I can tell you it was all time well needed and well spent.  My sister and I went shopping Saturday trying to find her a dress for my niece's wedding.  She didn't find anything but we sure had fun.  Friday night me, Karie and the girls hung out and I got to spend time with Sharon last week.

* In spending time with all my favorite women I've been able to eat out at some of my favorite places.  Paradise Bakery for wild chicken & rice soup (sister & niece), Xavier's for the Xavier's special which is a bean burrito with green chili sauce in it.  YUM!! (Sharon), PF Chang's for a mix of all things yummy (the girls), and Los Olivos** for THE. BEST. TORTILLA. SOUP. E.V.E.R!!! (sister).  After not eating out anywhere, except for my sisters weekend trip, it has been HEAVEN!!

** If you check out the link for Los Olivos, check out the main location & the blue room.  COOLEST room ever!

Karie and I are hanging out Monday since I have one more vacation day to use up before my work anniversary next month.  We're planning on going to Scottsdale for some of THE. BEST. TORTILLA. SOUP. E.V.E.R!!! at Los Olivos and then I'll be introducing Karie to H&M.  I'll shop vicariously through her.  It'll be great!

* I slipped again last night and bought myself two new dresses when I went to Target to pick up the brown tights I needed for my new FREE dress.  All my clothing is either summer (tank style) or winter clothes (long sleeved sweaters).  I have nothing for in between.  Since I found some dresses on super sale ($4.98) I splurged and bought myself two.

This one...

Xhilaration® Juniors Belted Easy Dress - Tan

Xhilaration® Juniors Belted Easy Dress - except the belt is missing

and this one...
Xhilaration® Juniors Skater Dress - Black

Xhilaration® Juniors Skater Dress - Black

Except it's not plain black it's this floral pattern...

They didn't have it on the Target website

I'm hoping to go back tonight and grabbing the same dress but in black & white stripes.  I think it'd look cute with a gray belt I have and my gray boots.  But sshhhh...don't tell.

Thursday Latelies #16

It's Thursday and I am actually posting my Thursday Latelies.  Amazing, I know!
I am apparently half on track this week.
Hopefully, next week I'll be all the way back on track.

Edits/Notes:
* Yep, that's the neighbor kids having another melt down, stomping around & yelling outside.  They seem to know when I'm doing my TL's video because they get the loudest it seems when I'm recording.
* Sorry for the shakiness.  Apparently shoe boxes do not make stable dyi tripods.
* When I say the nature preserve (Riparian Institute) is big...
big = 110 acres.
So, here are still some trails I haven't explored.
Furry water animal...Muskrat!

* I would make the world's WORST spokeswoman!!  By Thursday Morning I mean... TUESDAY MORNING.  I had Thurday on the brain, oops!

Thursday Latelies #15 (Friday Edition, again)

I'm using this as my Thursday Latelies (joining at Bex...A Style Diary) but it's also a rundown of my sisters "vacation".  Because what I am  most thankful & loving this week was my time with my sisters (and family).  Since my first day back to reality was yesterday I'm playing catch up.

* I loved having 5 whole days to spend with my sisters.  They came in on Thursday but I had to work Thursday & Friday so I only got to spend a few hours with them on those nights.  Had I had 7 full days off I don't think I would have ever made it back to work.

Sunday we went with my niece, nephew & my great niece & nephew to Goldfield Ghost Town.  I've been there at least 100 times (seriously) but I still love it.  The mine tour never gets old.  Neither does getting ice cream at the ice cream shop.  I forgot my camera (of course!) and the sunlight was too bright so it was hard to snap a lot of photo's from my iPhone.  I did manage to get a few though.
Goldfield Ghost Town

The weather really couldn't have been any better.  Warm but not too hot.  Can I just say this is why I LOVE Arizona!
View of the Superstition Mountains

Monday my sisters and niece, Elizabeth, took a road trip up north for an over night stay.  We didn't really have a plan.  We had a few stops we wanted to hit but nothing we couldn't deviate from.  If we saw something we liked, we did it.

Our first stop was to the Tonto Natural Bridge...
via

I didn't bring my camera (surprised, I know) and I was too afraid to take photo's with my camera because there was too much water around and the ground was too slippery.  I took one photo while standing on a rock and almost fumbled my phone so I tucked my phone safely away for the rest of our hike.

Our next stop (after lunch) was to Montezuma Castle.  I've been there at least 50 times but it still amazes me how the Sinagua built a 20 room dwelling in the side of a cliff.  I'm also amazed that the dwelling has held up as long as it has.  They were working on stabilizing it while we were there.

* We ended up a Cliff Castle Casino in Camp VerdeMy sister Beth & I suck at gambling so we ended up at the bar drinking margarita's in a can.  YES... Margarita's in a CAN.  They were the special that night so we figured why the heck not.  The bartender poured them into a glass with margarita salt around the rim...which is the best part for me.  I'm not a margarita person, I think the tequila is too strong, but when it's in a can it's not too strong.  el Jimador Margarita's in a can are pretty darn tasty if you ask me.

We may or may not have gotten drunk.  From CANNED margarita's.  Yeah, we're special.  We ended up drinking everyone else's left over can parts & some guy bought us all a round so our 2 margarita's ended up being like 4.  It was fun sister bonding time that's all I know.

Sunday we drove up to Sedona checked out the Chapel in the rocks (Chapel of the Holy Cross) and wandered around the shopping areas around town.
SISTERS! in Sedona
(Georgie, Sherri, Beth & me)
It's not the most "Sedona"ish photo ever but it's the only one we took.  It was in the courtyard of a little chapel in the middle of the Tlaquepaque shopping village (or whatever it is called).

* Wednesday we went though crates of stuff Georgie had been storing from our mom & grandma.  We found some crazy old photo's and news clippings of family members.  There were scrapbooks our mom made back when she was a teen and it was an interesting look into her psyche.  She was obsessed with Vic Demone.  She kept every letter & card any of us ever sent her.  She was way more sentimental that I ever gave her credit for.  We were able to divvy up some of her jewelry from back before I was born.  We all got a piece of jewelry with her name on it (mine was a pin that's her name in cursive) and each of us kids (5 of us) got a St. Christopher's medal (or some similar protective saint medallion) from either our mom or our grandma.

We found a piece of paper she kept track of my weight on from when I was born.  I was premature and weighed 3lbs, 13oz.  It took about a month or more for me to reach 5 lbs and a few months to reach 8 lbs.  Crazy that she kept it but pretty cool none the less.

* I snagged these...
McCall's dress patterns from the 1950's
I'm trying to talk Georgie into helping me make one of these.  Probably way too ambitious for my first attempt at dress making...or sewing for real...but so totally worth it.  I just have to find the perfect material.

The only bad this is that the patter will actually fit me.  Sounds like a good thing, which it is...except for the fact that it means that I am pretty much built just like my Nana.  First her feet, now her build.  I loved that woman but not exactly the things I wanted to share with her.  =)

* We did scratchers and I won $2.  Super exciting, I know!  I wasn't the big winner of the bunch (Beth won $20) but I, at least, won something (refer back to suck at gambling).
Winning words...Bed, Lovely & Idle.

* I got my copy of Jack's Mannequin's new album People and Things this week and I LOVELOVELOVELOVE IT!!  I'm going to put it out there that it is my favorite album of the year.

My favorite song (so far) off the album is Television.  Musically it starts off a bit different than most of JM's stuff but it ends with JM trademark music, in my opinion... if that makes sense.  I absolutely love the honesty of the lyrics...

Run around the spiral it's our choice now,
Up or down, days can seem so long
Holy ghost, I'm living with your voice now
But tonight, I'm sleeping with my television on
But tomorrow they're be hell to pay and clouds across the sun

You were right I've always been a sinner
You were right I've wasted all your time
You said it all, "We drank to much at dinner."
So tonight I'm sleeping with my television on
Come tomorrow they'll be hell to pay and clouds across the sun

You and I baby we're a broken record.
Turn around we're making sound but only for the noise
And what if I could live like this, but not forever
And what if you could move the needle to a more forgiving song
And what if this, was never really broken all along
But for tonight, I'm sleeping with my television on
I'm sleeping with my TV on
Yeah I don't mind sleeping, not when there's flash and buzz
Your colors dance beneath my bedroom door
Yeah I don't mind sleeping with my tv on
With my tv on
With my tv on
With my tv on

So glad I FINALLY got the CD. I pre-ordered it for FREE

I'm thinking the color is too dark.  My co-worker agrees.
What do you think?

*Yes, the sign behind me is shaped like a cat & says
"My cat is smarter than your honor student"
I found it at Marshall's a while back for $2.99 and couldn't resist.
It's HILARIOUS!

CRAZY! Cat Lady.

P.S.
This is what Remington was doing during filming
prior to me picking him up...and, of course,
he continued when I was done filming & trying to pick up.
It's seriously a good thing he's so damn cute!!

Thursday Latelies #13 (Friday Edition)

Please excuse the Fridayness of this post but it's (belated)
Thursday Latelies time!!
Fridayness??  Yes, I'm making that a word.  Deal.
As always, linking up with Bex...A Style Diary.

Edit/Notes:
* In case you missed it, I rambled on about a story regarding my sisters yummy tacos here yesterday.
* Cyrus...
"STOP what you are doing and PAY ATTENTION to me!!"
* I won the GS Lillian cuff from Chris's blog Chubbette Tails...Life After Spanx.
Shelly of GS Lillian blogs at  GS Lillian Daily
Seriously, CHECK THEM OUT!!
* Fall TV Season is back!! YAY!!
Thank you Hulu for having a way for me to keep
up with all the shows I watch.
*Anyone catch that weird tick I did at the end of talking about
all that TV/Hulu stuff?  Spaz much?!
* Apparently Parker thought it was appropriate for her to
primp in the background.  She may be 17 years old but that doesn't mean she's going to let herself go.
* I'm pretty sure I've mentioned the nature preserve behind the
library in every TL post since I found it.
LOVE IT!!
Adolecent ducks...
*Yes, yes I act out what I am talking about.  It goes well
with the weird ticks.  I try to keep my hands toned
down when I'm videoing myself but it apparently doesn't
always happen.

Okay, so this is the section I do a public service announcement.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you are going to
terrorize fish by fishing please clean up after yourselves
and don't leave fishing line just laying around.
I know it is unavoidable sometimes, like when your line breaks when it's in the water, but PLEASE do your best to get as much
broken and extra line up off the ground (and or out of the water) as you can, AND THEN PUT INTO A TRASH CAN.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.
THANK YOU!
The ducks (and any other animal who could be affected by it) also thank you.  How do I know this?  Because they told me.
Scouts honor.
This probably isn't the best time to mention this but I was
never a Cub Scout or anything else that may take the Scouts oath
or whatever "Scouts honor" comes from.

Thursday Latelies #12

Thursday Latelies time again!

Notes/Edits:

*Sorry for the shakiness.  I didn't realize how bad it was until I was downloading it.  WOW.  Using your iPhone to video yourself isn't all that easy.  At least, not any of the ways I know how to do it.  Anyone have any tips let me know.  Please.  Thanks!  I may just switch back to my camera since both iPhone & camera have issues with the computer when uploading.  Or more the computer has issues with them.  Or just the process of uploading videos.  It loves to uploaded them and then immediately go to the Blue Screen of Death.

*Meet "Chester".  Some of you may already be acquainted if you follow me on FB, Twitter (@kitty_kerri), or Instagram (@kittykerri).  He's got the sweetest look about him.
Hello!!

Beautiful markings & color.

Such a sweet look!

Thursday Latelies #11

It's Thursday Latelies time again...joining at Bex...A Style Diary.

This week I don't have a (personal) video...mostly because there isn't a whole lot to talk about this week.

What I am grateful for this week is music.  I spent most of my 3 day weekend alone listening to music.  There was a whole lot of Jack's Mannequin & Toad the Wet Sprocket.

This song spoke to me the most this week...

Katie, you're a brave girl
And I know it's only just started
But I'm gonna be there at six
With some flowers on sticks
That were clipped just to make the weak strong
And Katies it's a strange world
And girls can get so broken hearted
But if it were me and the universe
I'd get the worst of this gong

And Katie
Katie, I'm sorry
That in your condition
The sunshines been missing
But Katie
Don't believe that it isnt there
Oh and Katie
Katie, be happy
This world can be ugly
But isn't it beautiful
Not really here
And really not there
We're really not there

Katie, you're a brave girl
Courage is something I'll need now
Because it's been a hell of a day
I've spent fading away
But we all fade sometimes
I believe
That Katie it's a strange world
As I watch our tables get turned round
But you've got the strength that I've lost
Who'd of thought you would be carrying me

And Katie
Katie, I'm sorry
That in your condition
The sunshines been missing
But Katie
Don't believe that it isnt there
Oh and Katie
Katie, be happy
This world can be ugly
But isn't it beautiful
Not really here
And really not there

Woahwoah, woah, Woahwoah, woah
It's not the end of the world
It's not the end of the world
It's not the end of the world
'Cause the cops wouldn't break up this party

And Katie
Katie, I'm sorry
That in your condition
The sunshines been missing
But lately
I don't believe that it isnt there
Oh and Katie
Katie, be happy
This world can be ugly
But isn't it beautiful
Not really here
And really not there
I said we're not really here
And really not there
We're really not there

Katie, you're a brave girl
And I know it's only just started

I was able to download about $12 of "FREE" music from Amazon thanks to a music survey I get (and some left over balance from past GC purchase).  I have no idea how I found the survey (I've been doing it for a couple of years) but I get emails periodically to do surveys about local music stations from a company called Research.fm.  Anytime I qualify & complete a survey I get a $5 Amazon Gift Code.  Easiest $5 EVER!

Thursday Latelies #10

Posting another Thursday Latelies sans video this week.  I was out late last night & although I stayed up way past my bedtime I didn't feel like doing my video when I got home.  Nore do I feel like doing one at lunch.  I think I've reached my limit of what I can take of this extreme heat we have here in HELL Arizona.  I have no gumption lately.  Fall cannot come quick enough for me!  Or for anyone else from what I can tell.  I can sometimes feel a hint of Fall on the horizon in the morning air but just barely.

Anyway, here's what I'm thankful for this week...

FREE stuff.  Yes, again!  If you couldn't tell FREE makes me one happy girl!

Last week I forgot to mention that my new library card enables me to 3 FREE mp3 downloads a week.  I don't know about you but that to me is pretty damn awesome!  Although the library's music colletion doesn't have everything I want in it to does have an awful lot music in it.  Great music!

So far I've dowloaded songs from John Mayer, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Adele, Civil Twilight, Incubus, Mumford & Sons, and Gavin Degraw.

I like that I can refresh my playlist once a week with new stuff.  If you take into consideration that iTunes has FREE music to download once a week, it's really twice a week I can refresh my playlist.  The only thing with iTunes is most of the time I've never heard of the bands.  At least with the library I get to pick & choose what I get.  LOVE it!!

I was able to go shopping at Old Navy this week.  FREE shopping due to a $20 Gift Certificate I got in the mail.  As to not break my no spending rule I didn't spend the full $20 bit I got close enough.  I love ON's lace-trim camis and luckily they were on sale for $7.50 and I got two.  One in what I guess is a mustard color stripe & the other is an olive color (shown here in outfit #3).  I already have the navy striped one pictured so I picked up a nautical necklace they had on sale for $1.99 that does with the earrings & ring I bought with the navy tank.
Old Navy Lace-Trim Henley Camis
In mustard (?) stripes
and "Growing Garden" or what I like to call Olive.

This week is brought to you by a very hasty video so sorry for the weird total FACE angle.

EDITS/NOTES:
*By forgot to finish I mean... I figured out what I wanted to share, got my stuff ready & then realized Criminal Minds was starting & stopped to watch two hours of it.  Or at least 1 & 1/2 hours of it, I fell asleep for the last half of the 2nd show.  Total bummer, btw.  When I woke up I was too tired to wake up enough to finish what I needed to do (video & laundry).
