Zach Morris still ROCKS!
I absolutely love Jimmy Fallon and this video is only part of the reason why. While I love Jimmy Fallon my heart still totally belongs to Zach Morris. I can't remember the last time I've laughed so hard!! Pure comic genius from everyone involved and kudos to Mark-Paul Gosselaar it's like he never left the late 80's/early 90's.
It was true then and it's true now...
Karie found this letter I wrote to her for our Velda Rose Youth Group Bible Study Senior “Goodbye” package…at least that’s what I’m calling it. I don’t have a letter from her and I could be nice and say she had a lot going on due to just having a baby and all but truth is probably more along the lines of she just didn’t do it due to procrastination…which she herself confessed to being the reason. It’s so “Karie” that I don’t have a note…in all of my yearbook comments…all 6 years of them… she would write stuff like “This year sucked & I didn’t think we’d still be friends but we are…or I’m glad we’re still friends… or KIT this summer.” You know something totally insane and impersonal. Haha…there may be one comment that actually sounds like it was coming from my best friend but she really wasn’t great at stuff like that.
She thinks she’s not good at putting things down on paper but I think she’s wrong about that. She just doesn’t trust herself and is too critical about herself & her writing. She’s perfectly articulate and can say some damn beautiful things or has some great words of wisdom when she’s leaving a comment or we’re chatting in IM or something. I just think she freezes when she thinks someone is going to actually be paying attention to what she says, though I didn’t start this entry to analyze Karie's writing skills.
I was writing to document a beautiful letter I wrote my very best friend 13 years ago…hee!...I know I’m far too modest. Though names and events have been added over the last 13 years the core of what was written so long ago remains. Karie is still my best friend and we still have each other to lean on and to call in times of need. We’ve supported each other through everything life has passed our way and at the end of the day we are still stronger for it. The only thing I was completely wrong about was my boyfreind at the time, Brian Burgunder...

Karie Rae,
Well, we've known each other since the fifth grade. We had our own little click, our own little world. Music, soap operas, and Gabe Cordeiro kept us amused. Fifth grade was filled with laughter, music games and gossip. Due to a very nervous girl and the two 0' clock soap opera, General Hospital, we became best friends and those were the happiest and simple school years I have ever known.
Then, there was um ... seventh grade (yes, we're just going to skip sixth grade). Seventh grade was filled with new adventures, friends and boys (Brigham West). A tight bond began. Four or five classes together and we were hooked. From there on out we were" THE KARRIE'S."
Eighth grade flew by. Mrs. Perry's choirs class and the mall were our favorites. Church and boys became our new hobbies (especially, Mark Holtzman and Nick Cassaday).
We struggled through ninth grade. We still had Mrs. Perry and the mall but "Newsies" and boys helped and hurt our relationship. The Karries became Karie, Kerri and Sarah. (We'll just skip your little depressed streak). We had Brian Burgunder and Ryan Harmsen, and the best thing ever ... Cassaday's Cabin.
Which will bring us to HIGH SCHOOL.
A new school, new guys and new um ... new problems.
Tenth grade was, to say the least, unforgettable. We had our old fifth grade gang back, plus one, Sarah. Of course we weren't the same but we had something. We broke away from always liking the same boys to arguing over "whose" was better. "Your" Royce Johnson or "my" Rod Holmes. We had some of the best times and some of the worst times. We'll just skip the worst to save time. We had "nonchalant" walks passed a certain guys house. Sarah-with her flopping, me- with my kackeling and you- with your big mouth. We started "dating", yeah that's what we'll call it. We had our first school dance. I, with my Prince Charming and you with um ... Eskimo Man Ryan. Maybe it wasn't exactly what we had in mind but it was fun and a good start. Just before we became totally bored with the mall we meet our new inspirations. No not more money to spend. Every visit to the mall brought our future um ... Dream Boats. Yes, oh, yes OUR own Jeremy Ray Summers and Brian Joseph Burgunder. Which leads us into another unforgettable year.
Eleventh grade brought more new experiences. Some of our group left but the best of us stayed. We had break ups and make ups, between both ourselves and our boyfriends. Dance and French were our stronghold.
Now, for the best. Our Senior year. We barely made it but we have come out better than ever before. One of the biggest rollercoasters, any kind of dip, bump and fall that could come our way did. I flew through three guys, while you struggled with one. Luckily, we both made it with both each other and our guys.
We have made it through a lot in the past eight years. We have shared everything together. Our first date, kiss, make out session and sexual experiences. Not literally but figuratively. We've seen friends come and go, either to death or stupidity. We have made it through two or three depressions (not like the Great on in the 1930's), two weddings of friends, dozens of breakups from Brian and Jeremy, one pregnancy and the cancellation of "My So Called Life." I wouldn't have made it out as good as I have if hadn't had you as my best friend. You are the best and I know we will experience and share more joys and sorrows in the future. No matter how far we stray from each other we somehow always make it back to each other.
Even though it is now only the Karries again, we have more together than we have ever had with the group or our once threesome. As we go on to college, get married and become mothers we will always have someone to call when everything is too hard to handle alone. With each other and the people who love us we can make it through anything.
Love always!!

Fall Frenzy Fest
Yesterday I got tickets for Karie and I to go to Mix 96.9’s Fall Frenzy Fest at Tempe Park Friday, Sept. 18, 2009. Friday’s showcase is Jason Mraz, Rob Thomas, The B-52's, Gavin Rossdale and Colbie Caillat Tickets were $55.00 each, which is sorta high since it’s a festival and there are no assigned seats but really it’s peanuts considering we’re seeing 5 people. Five people live JASON MRAZ and ROB THOMAS.
I’m soooooo very excited! I’d been hearing commercials on the radio all week about it but I could never get all the info since I was at work and my ears never picked up on it until they mentioned Jason Mraz. I checked the radio’s site and the information there was useless. Luckily, since I’m subscribed to Jason Mraz’s newsletter I got an e-mail for the “exclusive” pre-sale so I didn’t have to wait with the general public for them to go on sale Saturday. Makes it so much easier to buy pre-sale instead of making sure I’m in front of a computer on a weekend when I don’t own a home computer.
When I called Karie to see if she was interested I started with, “Well I know you’re going to say no…” but she was already telling me, “I knew you were going to call, I already talked to Jeremy and I’m in.” Wow…that was easy. I didn’t even have to tell her what I was calling about. Or have to sweet talk her into it. Or think of a scheme to get Jeremy to okay Karie being gone all day and night on a Friday. Karie, being the bestest friend EVER, already had it figured out in anticipation for something I hadn’t even fully thought about yet. I had only tried to look into the details of the concert the afternoon before and hadn’t mentioned to anyone anything about it. She knows me far too well!!
It’ll probably be a hot miserable day but it’s going to so totally be worth it!! Not only do we get to see JASON MRAZ again but we get to see another one of my musical idols, ROB FREAKING THOMAS. Then we get the added bennifit of musical icons like The B52’s…and on a lesser scale of musical icons but just as cool if you were into the 90’s “grunge” scene you have Gavin Rossdale. Colbie Caillat is just adorable and doesn’t suck so that’s FIVE freaking AWESOME musical acts for the price of one.
Jessica wanted to go but will have school on Friday’s so she can’t. Hopefully, we’ll get some other people to join us between now and then but if not Karie and I will have a grand ol’ time by ourselves…along with the other thousands of people going who we will not know. There are two more days of mass bands playing but I really could care less who they are. I didn’t see any MUST SEE’s listed.

Why haven't I heard of the garden goat before?
I’ve always felt that being a Capricorn fit me well but with the one exception… I wasn’t all business orientated or ambitious like all the information said. I don’t know where I found this information or what link it was at now but I did manage to copy what it said. I like that it says there are two kinds of Capricorn…the mountain goat and the garden goat. I do believe I’m far more garden goat than mountain goat.
Capricorn
Your element: Earth Your ruling planets: Saturn
Symbol: The Goat
Your stone: Garnet
Life Pursuit: To be proud of their achievementsVibration: Powerful resilient energyCapricorn Secret Desire: to be admired by their family and friends and the world at large
Description:
The sign of the high roller, Capricorn is regarded as the zodiac’s top, but also quiet, life and business achievers. But, there are two very different types of Capricorns.
The first is represented by the mountain goat, always climbing higher and higher; never content until reaching the top. The second is the garden goat, with little adventurous spirit or ambition-happy to remain within a small domain, refusing to budge unless it is pushed. Either type of Capricorn, however, is patient and persevering. They reach their goals because they know the longest journey commences with a single step and that the first step is always the most difficult.
The one thing a Capricorn must always try to do is balance work with play; otherwise they can become too one-sided and work can replace true personal emotional fulfillment. Continually climbing the eternal mountain of success, Capricornians rise to the occasion when faced with a new task or deadline. Even if something comes to a grinding halt, their ambition to reach the ultimate keeps them moving forever onwards and upwards (prompted by the strict influence of ruling planet Saturn). Although conservative and cautious, Goats are willing to try unusual approaches on their road to success in business or in love. Romantically, they desire a permanent relationship with someone who'll give them the affection they crave (and often neglect to give themselves!)
The rulership of Saturn - the planet representing responsibility, structure and hard work - ensures that Capricorns in their truest of expression, are ambitious, practical and superb organizers. Although many Capricorns are borderline workaholics, this doesn't necessarily make them dull or gloomy! They have an offbeat sense of humour, which seems to erupt at the most unexpected moments. Their motivating force in life is success, money, status, authority and - although many might not admit it - love. By nature Capricorns are cautious when entering a new love relationship, but once they feel 'safe' with their partner, the cool exterior melts away to reveal a sensitive and loyal heart beneath. As a friend, Capricorns can be relied upon to provide the strongest and most sympathetic pair of shoulders in the zodiac...

One more push
This Saturday, Gavin Degraw will be departing for Uganda to spend a week going to refugee camps to hand deliver the Malaria bed nets to those in need.
So far Gavin’s team has raised $6,360 for Nothing But Nets, that’s 85% of their goal. Gavin and his team need your help to reach their $7,500 goal amount. Please go donate at least $10 for those in need.
The current Net-O-Meter is at 2,502,550 nets. That is a lot of protection for those who need it but not enough and we can do better than that.
Please stay tuned for pictures, videos, and very special blogs directly from each camp that he visits. To keet track go to his news page.

30 days to go....(after today ends at least)
What started out as me dragging Karie along so I didn't have to see Gavin Degraw alone (and my sneaky way of forcing her to listen to "new" music) when he comes to Martini Ranch April 5th has now turned into a group of 5. Me, Karie, Tia, Nicole and Jessica.
I asked Tia after the Jack's Mannequin (with Matt Nathanson) show was cancelled since she wanted to accompany us to that and I thought on our re-meet outing that she said she liked Gavin Degraw when he came up in conversation. I'm excited for her to hang out with all of us but I'm afraid my super spaz persona that comes out at concerts (and the whole day of) may scare her off (all invited were warned with an FYI warning, btw). If not then I've got a new concert buddy, one who actually knows who I'm talking about and why I'm excited. Not that Karie isn't a good concert buddy because she totally is. She'll go and do whatever I ask her to do. She'll even "study" before the concert when I make her and when she's at the concert you'd never guess she'd only just heard of whoever is playing and wasn't originally a lifelong fan. Reason #85496 she's been my BFF for over 20 years.
Nicole & Jessica were supposed to go to the Gavin Degraw concert with me when he was at the Marquee back in September. Things didn't work out but I'm glad Jeni got to go with me, especially since she genuinely likes Gavin because it gave us something fun to "bond" over. Plus, it made Nick happy that we spent at least some time outside "family time" together while he was over in Iraq. Anyway, I asked Nicole if she was interested in going to see Gavin this time and she jumped at the chance. Jessica basically fell in line after that...I mean we all sort of ganged up on her. Peer pressure...does friends and family good. Not that she isn't a Gavin Degraw fan or excited about the concert. She's just more neutral about music...something I will never get about her and Karie.
I haven't gone to a concert with a group since Sarah, Karie, Jessica and I went to see Madonna back in '06. I'm very excited for various reasons... a) I get to share something I love with some of my favorite people. b) There is strength in numbers, which means a lot when there is a large crowd of people who are just as excited and spastic as you are about Gavin FREAKING Degraw. c) We all have fun together and even though Tia is new and unknown to both Jess & Nicole and Karie hasn't seen her in 17 years I know it won't matter.

Another good cause...VH1 Save The Music Foundation
The VH1 Save The Music Foundation was founded in 1997 as a public affairs initiative of the VH1 network. The Foundation’s core mission is to restore instrumental music education programs, ensuring that every child has access to a complete education that includes the benefits of music instruction. Since its inception, The Foundation has remained faithful to and focused on making our mission come to life. Now a 501(c) (3) not for profit organization, The Foundation continues working in close affiliation with its parent network. Tom Calderone, Executive Vice President and General Manager of VH1 serves as the current chairman of The Foundation’s Board of Directors. Each of the past heads of the Network have served in this capacity including, Christina Norman and John Sykes.
The inspiration for The Foundation grew out of John Sykes’s volunteer experience as Principal for a Day at the Brooklyn, New York public school, PS 58 - The Carroll School. John saw first-hand how the students in the music program at PS 58 were struggling due to the great need for musical instruments and he was inspired to dig deeper into the problem and learn more about the benefits a student receives from studying a musical instrument.
As we examined the music education system throughout the nation, we found that music education is not only important for its intrinsic value, but research consistently demonstrated that students who study an instrument enhance their critical thinking skills and their ability to work together as a team. They are more engaged in school and less likely to drop out; and they do significantly better in all of their academic endeavors. Upon seeing the facts about the benefits of music education in a young person’s life, VH1 started The Foundation. Since that visionary moment, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation has proudly restored over 1,600 instrumental music programs in more than 100 cities nationwide, putting instruments into the hands of 1.2 million children. The Foundation is able to make grants of music education programs because of the generous support from its corporate sponsors, foundations, individuals and partners.

Support a good cuase - Nothing But Nets
Nothing But Nets is a grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. While the UN Foundation has been working with the UN to fight malaria for years, it was a column that Rick Reilly wrote about malaria in Sports Illustrated, challenging each of his readers to donate at least $10 for the purchase of an anti-malaria bed nets -- and the incredible response from thousands of Americans across the country -- that led to the creation of the Nothing But Nets campaign.
The reaction to Reilly's 815 words made clear that thousands of people were ready to help the million children dying unnecessarily each year of malaria. Within a few short months, Nothing But Nets raised over 1 million dollars. And so Nothing But Nets was born.
The UN Foundation has now partnered with groups as diverse as National Basketball Association’s NBA Cares, The People of the United Methodist Church and Sports Illustrated to bring Nothing But Nets to the American public. These Founding Partners are joined by corporate, multi-media and financial partners to make a significant impact by raising awareness and funds to purchase and distribute bed nets and save lives.
Now, we're asking you to help spread the word about Nothing But Nets, and how easy it is to protect children from malaria with bed nets. You can save a family. Your church, school, or team can save a village. Together, we can cover Africa with life-saving bed nets.
