30 Days of Music: Day 2

Day 02 - Your least favorite song:

Um…I’ll Be by Edwin McCain.  I have my ex-husband to blame for this one.  I cannot even explain the reaction this song gives me when I hear it on the radio.  It's just not good.

Blah...I can’t even think about it.

30 Days of Music: Day 1

Since March is looking to be the concert month I figured I’d start 30 Days of Music.

I’ve held off on doing this one because just looking at the questions is incredibly hard. My brain goes into overload. There are just far too many songs out there. My love for music is far too large to be able to single out just one favorite anything but I will try to figure out each day’s question with the best answer for that day.

Anyway, here goes…

Day 01 - Your favorite song:

The easiest way to answer this question is by my favorite song I’ve heard today…"I Will Not Take These Things for Granted" Toad the Wet Sprocket

TOAD THE WET SPROCKET IS COMING!  TOAD THE WET SPROCKET IS COMING!

Did you hear the news?!...

TOAD THE WET SPROCKET IS COMING!

I have been waiting for this day for...well, for a really long time!  They were my first "big" concert back in high school and unfortunately I have no memory of the epic concert I was at.  How I have no memory of Toad the Wet Sprocket and The Lemonheads concert is beyond me.  If I didn't still have the ticket stub & the old journal entry I wouldn't even know I'd been there that night.

To be fair I was extremely claustrophobic back then & large crowds were no friend of mine! I'd spend most of my time at concerts trying to hold my shit together and not freak the F out.  My boyfriend at the time was in a band(or few) so I attended a whole hell of a lot of concerts, both for his band(s) and for any band he/they idolized.  It hasn't been until recient years that I've even been able to enjoy a concert.  I decided I wasn't going to let my stupid irrational fear continue to ruin my love of music so I got over it.  Or more I figured out ways to deal with it when it creeps up since it still comes to visit at nearly every concert I attend.

The last weekend of March is going to be a big one.  Two concerts in 4 days is crazy!  Especially since the last concert I attended (Something Corporate) had my hearing screwed up for about 2 weeks.  I can only imagine how bad it's going to get after attending 2 concerts 2 days apart at the Marquee.

I CANNOT wait!!

Here we go again...

The funny thing is I was wondering when I'd be getting some good concert notifications on my drive into work this morning... Guess someone was listening.

Spreading the Love

In honor of Valentine's Day I've decided to tempt fate & spread some love around.  Maybe ward off the bad juju that normally finds me on this day each year.

In recient days I've seen some great things (for lack of a better word) on love so I figured jot them down here & save them for prosperity.

Give yourself a hug, pass it on :) *

The Charles Schulz Philosophy

I'm not one to forward e-mails but I will every once in a while when I think something is really cool.  This is cool so I figured instead of filling every ones inbox I'd just post it here for all to see.

The Charles Schulz Philosophy
(This is marvelous!! There are two sets of questions.
Scroll slowly and read carefully to receive and enjoy full effect)

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip.

You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on them.
Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers.
They are the best in their fields.

But the applause dies..
Awards tarnish..
Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the
most credentials, the most money...or the most awards.
They simply are the ones who care the most

Moxahala Creek - A Mansion Built Upon Sand

I thought this was fun...

‎1 - Go to Wikipedia and hit random. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 - Go to quotationspage.com and hit random. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”. Third picture no matter what......... it is, will be your album cover.
4 - Use photoshop or similar (picnik.com is a free online photo editor) to put it all together.
5 - Post it with this text in the "caption" and TAG the friends you want to join in.
