Moonlight Kiss

It's only taken me 5 months but after winning a $75 Gift Card to Shabby Apple from Talk2TheTrees (back in August! can you believe I held out that long) I finally ordered my Shabby Apple dress.

I really thought I'd have an easier time picking the perfect dress from Shabby Apple.  They have so many pretty dresses it's hard to pick just one dress.  Then you add in my busty disposition and it makes the decision a lot harder than it really should be.

Their last collection Joyful came out not that long ago but they just added a few more color options to some of the dresses I've been looking at.  Having a purple option made my decision a bit of a no brainer.

I don't think there is any difference between the Class Ring dress
Class Ring - Olive Green

and the Moonlight Kiss dress.
Moonlight Kiss - Grey

But the purple is definitely my favorite of the three.
Moonlight Kiss - Purple

Though I was pretty close to picking the Class Ring dress since I really like the olive green color but I decided I had everything I needed to style up the purple so I went with that one.  As I type this I am having a bit of buyers remorse and wishing I'd picked the olive green color.  Oh, well.

Moonlight Kiss is $85 and because it's my birthday month Shabby Apple sent me an email with a $10 Shabby Apple Dollars code (it actually pays to join email lists!).  So with the $75 GC I won I only paid the $8.95 for shipping.  Pretty sweet, right?!

Now lets hope & pray that the dress fits perfectly so it really is the perfect dress.

Things I Love Thursday

So I've seen a few things around lately that I wanted to share and it doesn't quite fit a Thursday Latelies post (gasp...could I possibly be thinking to starting those up again?!) so I figured I'd try a Things I Love Thursday post (as seen on Little Cheif Honeybee).

3. Rediscovering my Material Issue "International Pop Overthrow" CD (circa 1991)

Since Remington ate my (new) iTravel Friday night (it was only 20 days old) I have been forced to listen to my CD's while in the car.  I decided to grab something I don't usually go for when I grab my CD's.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner #21

I haven't done a post like this since October.  I'm not going to say I haven't won something in between then and now but I'm not going to say I have.  Truth is, I don't remember.  I guess if I did I wasn't overtly excited about it.

This weekend I received my "winnings" from an InPink giveaway GrrFiesty had earlier this month.  It was another one of those 50 winner deals.  I honestly figured if I was one of the 50 they'd choose someone else since I'd won from them before but apparently not.

I just checked to see when I won the other InPink giveaway and I am cracking up.  I won a $40 gift certificate for them in January.  I managed to mention it in a WIWW post but never did a WWCD post.  With the timing I'm going to say it had less to do with me not being overtly excited about it and more to do with what was going on at the time.  Losing a friend so unexpectedly and so unnecessarily sort takes the fun out of winning giveaways...and everything else in life.

You can see me wearing my 1st winnings here, but what I chose was this...

MULTICOLORED CHAINS NECKLACE AND EARRING

I, also, got a ring with the same "theme" but it is no longer listed on their site.  It's bigger than I expected so I don't wear it often.

This time with my $40 gift card I bought a set of rings I had my eye on...

TRIPLE BAND SIZED CUBIC ZIRCONIA RING SET

I really really like them.  Plus, they are very versatile.

What I am most excited about winning is a pair of shoes from B.A.I.T. Footwear off the lovely LoveElycia's blog.  Like squealed, out loud, while at work, after reading that I won.  I think this is the 3rd or 4th giveaway I'd entered for B.A.I.T.  I think the only way I could have been more excited was if I'd won a pair of Blowfish shoes since I've entered at least 20 giveaways for them....possibly 50.  At least with Blowfish it is easier to just go out and buy a pair.  I have yet to see a pair of B.A.I.T. at any stores (except online).

So after much internal soul searching and asking a few people's opinions I chose the Dennise in RED.  It was between the red and the black but I figured I have black shoes already.  I've been wanting a pair of red shoes FOREVER.  If going bold while getting a pair of FREE shoes isn't the thing to do, then I don't know when is.  I cannot wait to get my red shoes!!

Now if I could only be this luck when at the casino.

Remember this and keep it in your heart.

Something I found on Tristan Prettymen's always inspirational blog...

"It is a mystery why we fall in love. It is a mystery how it happens. It is a mystery when it comes. It is a mystery why some loves grow, and it is a mystery why some loves fail. You can analyze this mystery and look for reasons and causes, but you will never do any more than take the life out of the experience.

Love is more than the sum of the interests and attractions and commonalities that two people share. And just as life itself is a gift that comes and goes in its time, the coming of love must be taken as an unfathomable gift that cannot be questioned in its ways.

You need to treat what love brings you with kindness. If you find yourself in love with someone who does not love you, be gentle with yourself. There is nothing wrong with you. Love just didn’t choose to rest in the other person’s heart.

If you find someone else in love with you toward whom you feel no love, feel honored that love came and called at your door, but gently refuse the gift you cannot return. Do not take advantage; do not cause pain. How you deal with love is how love will deal with you, and all our hearts feel the same pains and joys, even if our lives and ways are very different.

If you fall in love with another who falls in love with you, and then love chooses to leave, do not try to reclaim it or to assess blame. Let it go. There is a reason and there is a meaning. You will know it in time, but time itself will choose the moment.

Remember this and keep it in your heart. You don’t choose love. Love chooses you. All you can really do is accept it for all its mystery when it comes into your life. Feel the way it fills you to overflowing, then reach out and give it away. Give it back to the person who brought it to you. Give it to others who seem poor in spirit. Give it to the world around you in any way you can.

Love has its own time, its own season, and its own reasons for coming and going. You cannot bribe it or coerce it or reason it into staying. If it chooses to leave your heart or the heart of your lover, there is nothing you can do and nothing you should do. Be glad that it came to live for a moment in your life. If you keep your heart open, it will surely come again."

Holiday Wish List

I've been inspired by Shelly over at GS Lillian to compile a holiday wish list.  It's not entirely without it's rewards either, by doing so I'm entering a giveaway she's got going on.  Unfortunately, it ends tomorrow...I'm sorta late to the game.

I was off for a total of 6 days last week.  I was out sick 2 days (food poisoning or the flu) and then there was the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Pretty much the worst 6 days EVER (except for the eating of all the turkey & yummy food).  By Monday I was looking forward to actually going to work.  Crazy, but true.

This week has all been about catching up.  Not much fun going on.  Although, I did get to go to a Pampered Chef party Tuesday night, and now I'm doing this so I guess it hasn't been a total bust.

My wish list(s) are of things I wish I could have put on my Christmas list but didn't because we're going low key this year.  I tried to go as low key as "don't get me anything" but Santa is sorta stubborn about his job so I threw out gift cards to some places.

Since I couldn't pick just one "must have" item from GS Lillian I just made a separate wish list for GS Lillian jewelry.  I mean, have you seen her stuff?  How do you not want one of everything in ever color?!  If I had made a real Christmas list a GS Lillian necklace would have definitely been on it.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! #20

Aside from the couple of slips (here and here) I've done surprisingly well keeping to my no spending/shopping ban.  And, yes, I went out and grabbed the shell-ebony stripped Xhilaration Skater Dress from Target for $4.98 (seen here in peacock-navy).  I'm wearing it today and it may be my most favorite outfit ever in the history of ever (photos in next weeks WIWW post).

Until last week the only clothing I've won was a hoodie (here), then within a weeks span I've been lucky enough to win 3 clothing items.  Two from 15DollarStore.com (documented here) and another hoodie off loveelycia's blog.  It's a one of a kind hoodie from Mungo Crafts.  I chose the Bubbly Grape hoodie.  Unfortunately I didn't favorite it on Etsy so I don't have a way to link to it since it's been "sold", and it's not listed under her sold items.

My first choice was the Weeping Willow but someone snagged it right before I could.  It's okay though because I was totally torn between the two.
Weeping Willow - Hoodie RESERVED for bharbin

I really love what Mungo Crafts does!  Her current stock is pretty (my other favorite was the Beach Party hoodie) but I really love some of the items she's sold already.  She's got nothing but rave reviews so I'm excited to get my hands on my new hoodie.
Beach Party - Hoodie
Beach Party currently on sale for $63.99

Spring Garden - Hoodie

I'm also awaiting a necklace I won off the lovely Lindsey's blog From the Aisle to Aloha.  The necklace is from LaLuceShop  and I chose the Rosario.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! #19

Contrary to all my "Winner Winner..." posts I do not only enter jewelry giveaways.  I just apparently only WIN jewelry giveaways.  Not that I'm complaining.  I love me some jewelry!

I'm just saying it would be nice to win something else once in a while.
Like a whole lot of money!
Or maybe Jim Sturgess.
At least just for a night or two.
Now where is THAT giveaway?!
I see the logistic reasons why I have yet to come across any Jim Sturgess (or anyone else yummy for that matter) giveaways
but you can't tell me it wouldn't be one hell of a fun giveaway to enter!!
P.S. I am still not over Jim Sturgess's performance in Across the Universe
FanFREAKIN'tastic!!

Anyway, here's what I have been very lucky to have won in the past couple of weeks...

Thanks to E, Myself & I
I won a LOVE bracelet from

It was a hard choice but I picked the
metallic purple one with silver.
I should have it this week.

Then thanks to the lovely Tieka at Selective Potential
I won a $35 Gift Credit to

Stone color choice...
Peach!

I'm guessing I'll have my pretties by the end of this week as well.

Both shops have some great stuff in them!!
It's probably a good thing I am on a spending ban or I'd
be buying a few things that caught my eye in both shops.
Seriously, if you are in the need of cool jewelry
go check them out!!

Thursday Latelies #13 (Friday Edition)

Please excuse the Fridayness of this post but it's (belated)
Thursday Latelies time!!
Fridayness??  Yes, I'm making that a word.  Deal.
As always, linking up with Bex...A Style Diary.

Edit/Notes:
* In case you missed it, I rambled on about a story regarding my sisters yummy tacos here yesterday.
* Cyrus...
"STOP what you are doing and PAY ATTENTION to me!!"
* I won the GS Lillian cuff from Chris's blog Chubbette Tails...Life After Spanx.
Shelly of GS Lillian blogs at  GS Lillian Daily
Seriously, CHECK THEM OUT!!
* Fall TV Season is back!! YAY!!
Thank you Hulu for having a way for me to keep
up with all the shows I watch.
*Anyone catch that weird tick I did at the end of talking about
all that TV/Hulu stuff?  Spaz much?!
* Apparently Parker thought it was appropriate for her to
primp in the background.  She may be 17 years old but that doesn't mean she's going to let herself go.
* I'm pretty sure I've mentioned the nature preserve behind the
library in every TL post since I found it.
LOVE IT!!
Adolecent ducks...
*Yes, yes I act out what I am talking about.  It goes well
with the weird ticks.  I try to keep my hands toned
down when I'm videoing myself but it apparently doesn't
always happen.

Okay, so this is the section I do a public service announcement.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you are going to
terrorize fish by fishing please clean up after yourselves
and don't leave fishing line just laying around.
I know it is unavoidable sometimes, like when your line breaks when it's in the water, but PLEASE do your best to get as much
broken and extra line up off the ground (and or out of the water) as you can, AND THEN PUT INTO A TRASH CAN.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.
THANK YOU!
The ducks (and any other animal who could be affected by it) also thank you.  How do I know this?  Because they told me.
Scouts honor.
This probably isn't the best time to mention this but I was
never a Cub Scout or anything else that may take the Scouts oath
or whatever "Scouts honor" comes from.

Wishing I had long nails...

Thanks to GS Lillian Daily & her Midweek Manicure series I now know of the water marble manicure craze.  How I haven't heard of this before amazes me.  Of course, I rarely paint my nails so maybe that's why.

Mostly because they end up looking like this...
Left hand

Right hand

(Anyone notice it's hard to take a good picture of your hands?  They end up looking all weird and alien like.)

Of course, this is day like day 4 or something but they pretty much looked like this the next morning after I painted them.  Nail polish and my finger nails just don't get a long.  It doesn't matter if I use a base & top coat or how many coats of polish I put on.  It chips & starts peeling off within 24 hours...and by 24 hours I mean more like long before the 12 hour mark hits.

It doesn't help that I am not pro active when dealing with chipping nail polish, as you can tell from my 4 day old nail polish mess I am currently rocking.  I just plain forget or am too busy (ie. lazy) to remember to take it off right away.

When I let it sit and continue to chip & peel off it ruins my nails.  How that in itself isn't a motivator is beyond me.  It's a struggle I've been having since Jr. High.  My finger nails just aren't a priority.  If I have any length to my nails prior to polish it will for sure be gone after polishing them.  I have thin nails that peel often to begin with and nail polish just aggravates it.  Right now it looks like I've chewed my nails off but I've never been a nail chewer.  Nope, they've either broke down into my nail bed or they've had to be clipped down that low due to some sort of damage.

I've tried just about everything to help my nails (except I've never tried prenatal vitamins but that's totally next!).  I'm beginning to think that it just is what it is, just like my super fine hair or my need for glasses.

Okay, enough of the rambling on about my super crappy nails, which really isn't what I wanted to talk about.  Water Marble Nail Art is what I want to talk about.  It's so stinkin' cool I can't stand it!!  The possibilities of designs and color combos have no end.  If I had long nails (or even nails that were beyond the end of my finger tips) I'd totally try Water Marble Nail Art!!

Seriously, check these videos out...

After checking out The Looks For Less: Manicure & Shelly's (GS Lillian) Pinerest nail art collection I am daydreaming of the day that I have nails long enough, the patience, and the ability to try some of this fantastic nail art ideas.

This may also mean I need a Pinerest account...

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! #18

This was supposed to post last week but for some
reason didn't.

Thanks to Chris @ Chubbette Tales

I am now the owner of a GS Lillian bracelet.
This one to be exact...
Which actuall looks like this...
Seriously, I love GS Lillian jewelry!
Normally her cuff bracelets run around $72
but she usually has some on sale for $25.

You can also read her blog here.

I can't wait to get my little hands on it!
Once I do I'll be sure to post pics.

I'm lame because I just now only
 realized it.
Good news is my bracelet is on it's way...YAY!!!

Today Kaelah Bee @ Little Chief Honeybee let me know
I won a
$50 Gift Certificate
to

Pree Brulee

This is what I picked...
Meadow Necklace
Meadow Necklace
I broke my no spending ban but only because shipping isn't covered by gift cards on their site.  So I had to pay it... $5.99.  The GC code expires after 30 days so I couldn't wait until I was over my ban.  Everything I picked out ended up being $49.50.  Had I been able to put the GC towards shipping I just wouldn't have gotten the bracelet.

I'm bummed that these bracelets weren't on sale instead...how perfect do they go with the necklace & ring I got?!
Purple Stacked Bangle Set

Maybe after I'm over my ban they'll be on sale and I'll get them.

And Emily @ Mama Days let me know I won another one of her Handmade with Heart Giveaways.  A Doe a Deer(Aluaces) pouch of my choice.  I chose the Bird Spoke Pouch in Grey (small).

This was inside the envelope... (minus note card)
It included a 10% Customer Appreciation Discount Code.
