2012 Goal: Quarterly Update #3

It's half way through December so I'm a bit behind on my 2012 Goals update.

#1. Wear each pair of shoes I have (at least once)...
Well, I've still been wearing shoes.  I kind of gave up on the whole documenting thing.  I got rid of a lot without wearing them to decide.  I'm ending the year with 43   shoes and 23 flip flops.  I'm not sure how many shoes I actually got rid of & how many were new this year, it's totally lame but when I was purging I never thought to write down what I got rid of.  There's about 6 more pairs I may get rid of still but I haven't quite decided yet.

Standing: Excellent.  I have less shoes than I started with, so I got rid of more shoes than I bought this year (I think I have 8 new pairs of shoes that I bought or won).  I think that's pretty dang good.

#2. Get rid of things...
I went through boxes I've been holding onto that had things from my childhood in it or things I was holding onto that were my Nana's.  I got rid of a few things but most of them were too important to get rid of.  I cleaned out both of my closets and got rid of a lot of clothing I didn't wear anymore.  I should have tackled my outside storage closet but never got around to it.  Meh, oh well... I can try next year.

Standing: Okay.  I mean, I got rid of SOME things.

#3. Go on a date...
I went on two online dates AND I've been dating Irish for 6 months.  I just wish I'd met him prior to tackeling the whole online dating thing.

Standing: Excellent.  Goal is complete.

#4. Sew a 50's style dress...
I never made my 50's style dress.  I tracked down a few patterns in the size I needed but by the time I went to buy them they were sold.  Vintage patterns are in high demand... damn hipsters!  I may try again next year, you know, once my sister has recovered from helping me with the botched DYI dress we did (found here) or some miracle happens and someone lets me use their sewing machine to try sewing myself.

I did make a dress, "fix" said dress,  and then "trashed" said "fixed" dress and then never tried the project again.  I still want to make a maxi version of the dress but I guess until I can perfect the short version I shouldn't waste all the fabric needed to make the maxi dress.

Standing: Good.  (See above).

#5. Finally making myself my no sew fleece blanket...

*(Still)Nothing but cricket sounds here*

Anytime I thought about making the blanket Remington would remind me why I no longer do crafts in the house.  Also, just trying to fix things makes me want to kill him.  Mostly because I'm fixing the things he's ruined.  He's a complete moster when I try to make the bed or fold blankets so I just haven't had the gumption to try it yet.

Standing.  Bad.

#6. Get new glasses...
I didn't get any farther than thinking I needed or should get new glasses.

Standing: Bad.

#7. Visit Bearizona...
I didn't get around to visiting Bearizona.

I did, however, drive to the Albuquerque Bio Park.  We (me, Crystal & brood) spent the day exploring the zoo, botanic garden and the aquarium.

Crazy fact:  It takes less time to drive from Eagar, AZ to Albuquerque, NM than it does to drive from Eagar, AZ to Williams, AZ.  WHAT?!  Eagar to Albuquerque is 197.9 miles and Eagar to Williams is 209.7 miles.

Standing. Okay.  Same difference, right?

2012 Goal: Quarterly Update #2

It's August so it's time for a dreaded check on my 2012 Goals.

#1. Wear each pair of shoes I have (at least once)... Well, I've been wearing shoes.  I, however, have either forgotten to document it or my iPhone has refused to take photos (never enough storage space) when I do remember.  I'm at 39 of 52 on my shoes and 6 of 23 on my flip flops.

I've acquired more shoes than I probably should have and I'm sure my count is off one way or another.  I did get rid of 5 pairs of shoes without thinking about it so I feel good on that front.  I just need to recommit myself to the task of wearing new shoes & actually documenting them.

Standing: Ok.  Maybe.  I'm good on the shoe part still but bad on the flip flop part so that totally equals out to an ok.  Right?!

#2. Get rid of things... Yeah, the only things I've gotten rid of are the things Remington has eaten and those things (iPod/iPhone charger cord, iTravel(s), alarm clock cord(s), lamp/Scentsy base cord) aren't things that needed to be gotten rid of.

Standing: Bad

#3. Go on a date... I can safely say I have kicked this goals ass!  Not only did I try online dating for a month, and had 2 separate dates from the experience (even if the whole thing wasn't successful), BUT I went out and got myself a man to date in real life.  It's been a little over a month and it is going EXTREMELY well.

Standing: Excellent.  Goal is complete.

#4. Sew a 50's style dress...  Yeah, not much has changed since my last report, except we fixed the (new) sash on the dress we did do.  We then promptly decided the dress still sucked.  We have ideas on how to fix what went wrong with the making of this dress.  Eventually, when we have the time & inclination we will try it again.

Standing: Good (still).

#5. Finally making myself my no sew fleece blanket...  *Nothing but cricket sounds here...*
Really, you try making a fleece blanket in the Summer.  In Arizona.  Where it's 105-115 degrees during the day and if we're lucky in the mid 80's a night.  I'm okay with this goal staying at bad for this quarter.

Standing.  Bad.

#6. Get new glasses...  I could give the excuse that I've used some of the money I had in mind for glasses towards getting the A/C fixed in my car (or at least trying to) but really that would be a waste of a good excuse.

Standing: Bad.

#7. Visit Bearizona...  I've discussed it and thought about it but that's about it.

Standing. Bad.

If I hadn't completed one of the goals I'd say that this report is a pretty dismal one.  But I DID complete a goal so I think it's not as bad as it looks.  Of course, it may just be all the endorphins running wild due to the fact that I am dating an incredibly cute & sexy Irish man who is adorable & fun and who kisses me senseless every time I see him.

Once

So I finally got around to watching the Irish musical film "Once", which was released in 2007.  I've wanted to see it since it came out but never got around to it.  It won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Foreign Film, had the song "Falling Slowly" receive an Academy Award for Best Original Song and was turned into a Broadway play last year.  Seems I'm always more than fashionably late to some things.  I've seen "Once" in the library and grabbed it once but the disc was missing.  When I was out sick last week I was able to finally get it but never got around to watching it until this weekend.

When Irish came over to pick me up for our second date he saw it and commented that he used to live on the street in the film.  I'd totally forgot it was a foreign film or that it was an Irish one at that. Coincidences are so amusing sometimes.  Either way I think I scored some extra points with Irish for having it.

It was about 20 minutes into the movie when I completely fell in love with it.  The Irishness of it all didn't hurt but it is honestly a brilliant & beautiful film.  The talent of the two leads (Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglovais amazing and the music they make together is so raw (Glen), haunting (Marketa) and beautiful.

Seeing the film & hearing the music has changed my life.  Overly dramatic.  Probably.  It is just a film and music.  But it's a power film & music.  I made a Glen Hansard station on Pandora and there has not been one song I've not liked or have skipped over since programming it in Sunday, and I've listen to it every morning & evening since then.  Out of my 25+ Pandora stations that's never happened before.

I've found so many amazing artists from that station.  Between my 3 FREE weekly MP3 downloads from the library & $5 Amazon money (thank you music surveys!) I now have 8 new songs... 7 of which are favorites off my new Pandora station.

New songs:
"Boston"  Augustana
"First Day of My Life" Bright Eyes
"Falling Slowly" Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova/The Swell Season
"Flightless Bird, American Mouth" Iron & Wine  The Shepherd's Dog
"Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop" Landon Pigg Coffee Shop
"Hallelujah" Jeff Buckley Grace (Legacy Edition)
"If You Want Me" Marketa Irglova & Glen Hansard Music From The Motion Picture Once
"Smoke And Mirrors" Gotye Making Mirrors

I think aside from Glen Hansard (the "Once" soundtrack, The Frames & The Swell Season) of course, that Iron and Wine, and Ray LaMontagne are my most favorite new musical loves.  I've been circling around Ray LaMontagne but just sort of found other music to buy & concentrate on.  And I know, it's shameful but I'm not sure how I have gone so long not having Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah".  After this week I totally HAD. TO. HAVE. IT.

So if you have no idea what I'm talking about have a listen...

"Falling Slowly" - Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová

I don't know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice
You've made it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
And moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
Well you have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along

Best. First. Date. Ever...

Okay, just a word of warning... I'm going to go all GIRL! and geek out in tons of detail about my date last night.

Considering there were no yachts, hot air balloons, or trips to Vegas saying Best. First. Date. Ever. might seem like an overstatement.  But really when considering first dates and the awkwardness involved (especially when you don't really know each other) it really doesn't come down to what you do that can make a difference between a good first date, a bad first date, or a Best. Date. Ever. date.  It's all about how you do it.  Which some of you reading this right now need to get your minds out of the gutter...(TYLER!).

I'm sure there are going to be lots of giggles & snarks when I tell you what we did last night.  It sounds a bit ridiculous... especially for two grown ups in their (EARLY) 30's.  But it seriously was the best time.  I wouldn't say it was easy, because easy isn't the right word, but it was... comfortable and not awkward, even when it was awkward.  Like extremely comfortable for having only met once before (for a few hours) and we never were alone together or had any real one on one time at the party.  Which it why we never exchanged phone numbers and had to use Jeremy as a middle man to get this whole ball rolling.

Anyway, so we met at a bar by the mall (which I picked because it was in between where we both work) and had a drink (or two) and talked for almost 2 hours.  Then we went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner and shared cheesecake for dessert (he even offered me the last strawberry).  And then, for the best part... we walked around the mall after dinner.  Seriously.  In. The. Mall. and we held hands while doing it.  Which he ended up asking if he was out of line doing since I jumped when he first did it but I was not prepared for that.  Not on a first date.  Is that unusual? Am I weird?  I don't know if I'm usually not open enough for a guy to try to hold hands on a first date or if I've just dated guys who weren't into that kind of display on a date.  It was totally sweet & charming.  He kept offering to grab his cardigan (so Irish!) out of his car because I was cold in the restaurant and even offered his top shirt (a button up) at one point.  It's okay... I awwwwed too.

My obsession love for shoes came up and he offered to go look at shoes.  Offered with a straight face and was totally sincere about it.  Not one to push my luck I didn't take advantage and just wandered closer to the shoe section if something really caught my eye.  He kept asking me if I wanted to try any on and swears he doesn't have a shoe fetish.  I always declined, mostly because really it would have been weird.  I've never had a guy willingly look at & let me try on shoes before. Either he really doesn't mind accompanying someone when they're shopping or he was also on his very best behavior.  We spent a lot of time in the Lego store so it wasn't all about shoes.  He appreciates the geekier things in like.

His powers of observation are off the chart.  After a pair of dark purple wedges (suede with round studs along the line where the wedge & shoe top meet...they were so veryvery pretty!) caught my eye in a window he commented on how I really liked purple.  I was impressed because there was a pair of black ones right next to it and I didn't say anything about what I was looking at...I just sort of sighed, stopped & pointed in the general direction.  When I confirmed purple was my favorite color he said the color suited my coloring & would look good on me.  Then he said something about how nice I looked but it was in a cute & charming way.  Like using the word fetching or something most American men wouldn't use.  I'm not sure how he figured out the purple thing.  I wasn't wearing purple, I didn't have purple on when we first met, I never mentioned purple and the only purple I had with me was what was on my purse.  So if I eyed a lot of purple stuff I wasn't even paying enough attention to notice.

I did totally geek out on him & made him repeat himself when he said something totally "Irish".  We were talking about pets & he said he liked cats but wasn't big on dogs as in... "I'm not all wackado for dogs."  Wackado?! Really, how could I not ask him to repeat himself (3 times!)?!  Cutest thing ever!

Also, after we closed down the mall.  So hard core, I know.  We went back the the bar we started out at because we apparently weren't sick of each other yet.  The bar has stray cats living in the courtyard area.  It's a little tiny black & white mom & two (?) BABY! kittens!  One is black & white like her and the other is all back.  SO. STINKIN'. CUTE!  Anyway, Irish offered to order food so we could feed them because they were hungry.  It was so sad but I declined because really what would you order a cat and her BABY! kittens! at a sports bar so they wouldn't get sick?  Plus, really I'm a bleeding heart but I don't know if I'd order food just for a stray cat(s).  I'd give them half (or more) of my own dish if I'd had one. *Sigh*  I can't think about it anymore or I'm going to feel guilty we didn't feed them.

It was probably later than it should have been when I decided I needed to go home & go to bed (you know...so I didn't totally hate work today).  He walked me to my car and after gauging if I'd jackrabbit away or not moved in to kiss me.  That's when I got all AWESOME KERRI!, got all squirrelly and chatty.  Overtly so but I'd been so good all night.  I did manage to stand my ground, didn't jackrabbit away, and totally enjoyed being kissed my a super tall Irish hottie!  He eventually apologized for detaining me & not letting me go home.  Really...detaining?!  So dang cute!

So we have a date tomorrow.  Details pending...

*SIGH*

Wish me luck...

Apparently I didn't need an online dating site to get a date.  I just needed my BFF's husband.

Okay, maybe there was a bit more involved than that but that was the essentials.

I am super excited!  And I'm super excited that I'm super excited!  When I was on POF I just really wanted to go on one date I was actually excited for.  Obviously that didn't happen.  To have a date (tonight!), one that I didn't have to arrange blindly (POF), and that is with a guy who is (already) interesting (extremely so) is all sorts of gravy on top.

He's tall (6'5"), dark (dark brown hair), handsome and Irish (from actual Ireland).  He pretty much had me at 6'5" but then he had me again at Irish.  I am a sucker for a tall guy.  I'm even more of a sucker for one with an accent.   It's not a heavy accent like the Lucky Charm's Leprechaun or the foreign exchange student on Glee but it is there, and super cute.  I'm hoping I don't geek out on him and make him repeat himself when he says something totally cute & Irish.

Oh, and then he had me even more when I realized he had a huge bandage on his nose because he fell down (on his face!).  I can maybe teach this guy how to trip & fall with some grace next time.  Or at least with less injury.  I'm not sure if grace is the right word for being able to trip & fall without hurting yourself (much).

I'm not too worried about totally embarrassing myself tonight which, depending on how you look at it, is a good thing... I guess.  See I already did that, totally embarrassed myself on the night we met.  Jeremy & Karie hosted a work party for Jeremy and when there was only the 4 of us left we ended up played ping pong.  And by we played ping pong I mean Karie & Irish played.  Remember how I've mentioned I lack coordination for any kind of sport?  Part of the problem is my hand eye coordination.  It is severely lacking.  And by lacking I'm pretty sure it's non-existent.  I tried to play and after a few minutes of not hitting the ball (or even being anywhere close to hitting the ball) I gave up.  I was so bad I actually surprised myself by how bad I was.  It, of course, sent Karie into hysterics... which I pretty much was already in so there was snorting.  So really all I have to knock off my list is to fall down in front of him and to accidentally flick food on him.  I'm hoping to save some of that for another time though.

He's here in AZ for work and will eventually be going back to Ireland, which so far is the only real mark against him.  Which isn't too shabby considering by now I've usually got a pretty good list of things going against a guy.  So when I say I'm super excited I'm not sure the words super excited are accurate enough.

He's pretty funny.  Hilarious, even.  Like keep me on my toes sense of humor.  When I asked if he had any ideas on what to do for our date (via text, of course, the only proper way to communicate in the 21st century) his answer was this...
"How about dinner, drinks, balloon ride, a trip on a yacht, fireworks display... whatever you're up for but choose carefully because some things might take time to arrange."
I almost died from laughing.  My response was...
"Really with a list like that how does one choose?! Although you do know yachts are hard to find in AZ...  We could just run away together to Vegas and make it easier."

So, yeah....excited.

Would You Date Me?

So a week ago I joined Plenty of Fish.  What?!  Oh, no, I didn't.  Oh, but really... yes, I did.  I'd had my profile hidden since then to work out the glitches but went "live" this afternoon. In the few minutes I was online I had an overwhelming response. Not that I'm saying I'm a success or anything or that the responses I got were even good responses but they were responses non-the-less.  My brain actually wants to explode and fall out of my head, it is that overwhelming.  I don't even know how to proceed at this point.

There really isn't a wading area nor is there wearing any floaties once you jump into the pond that is POF.  It's just straight into the deep end and you better know how to swim.  Since I am not the best swimmer I quickly jumped ship pond and have stayed offline since except for a few peeks to check something out.  Or to fix the spelling error Crystal caught.  The one that neither Karie nor I noticed.  That, right there, is why you have at least two people check your work.  I'm a bit terrified and cannot promise that I won't chicken out the next time I log on and some guy tries to chat, email or whatever.

So here's my profile...would you date me?

XXXXX : Yikes, here goes..

About Me
I always thought other people only did this. I am completely
terrified to try online dating but I have a rule I try to live by...
If I want to do something but I find it too scary I, first need to
figure out why that is, and as long as it won't hurt me or
someone else, I just need to get over it and do it.
At least once. So here I am.

I work full time. I am currently in a serious & committed
relationship with my TV/DVD player. I do, however,
enjoy being outdoors and spend at least 4 nights a week
wandering around a park/bird preserve near me.
I lack the coordination needed for any type of sport. I have
3 cats and some days they are the most intellectual and
interesting conversationalists I encounter. If that makes me an
elitist and snobby, so be it. I love movies as long as I don't have
to read subtitles. I am a girl, so romantic-comedies are always
good entertainment but sometimes there just really needs to be a
lot of eye candy, shoddy plot lines and big massive explosions
(Yes, I am a fan of Michael Bay and I'm not ashamed to admit that
The Fast & Furious movies are on my favorite movie list). I tend to
say what I think and often find what I think to be hilarious...
even if no one else gets it.

I love animals & take care of strays when they let me. I will notice
a squirrel or prairie dog running along the road while driving past
but rarely will see deer or elk while standing still 10 feet in front
of me. I cannot live a day without music. Attending a concert is
just as energizing as taking an actual vacation. I have severe
crowd claustrophobia but prefer a small standing room only
concert to a sit down concert at a large venue. I've been told I
have "socially acceptable" nerdiness. I'm not quite sure what that
means but it sounds good to me. I have never played Dungeons
& Dragons or any online gamers games but I do worship at the
altar of Joss Whedon & Eric Kripke and follow Wil Wheaton on
twitter/FB... If any of that made sense to you, we will get along just
fine. If not, well I am sad for you, but we can definitely work with
that as well.

When I asked my friends for words that best describe my personality
I got things like loyal & reliable, which sort of sound like something
you'd say when describing a golden retriever or some other furry
friend. I got loving, generous & helpful. To be honest I can, also,
be high strung and moody but I like to think of that as meaning
I'm fun & passionate...which are another word my friends used to
describe me. I think I am AWKWARD but my friends don't
(usually) tend to see me that way. My most favorite quote
regarding this situation is "...she is an inadvertent vortex of
awkward moments so she just rolls with it. I have no clue why
cuz she isn't awkward herself but awkwardness always happens
when she's around..."

So there you have it...

First Date
No matter the situation first dates are awkward. Period.

Live in United States
Must not have messaged users looking for intimate encounters

Must not do drugs
Must not be married
Must not smoke

I think I need to add an age range to my mail settings.  I've gotten a lot of older men contacting me.  I swear it's the power of the boobs.
I'm sure there will be plenty more tweaks that will need to be made the more I wade into this crazy online dating world.

To explain how I ended up joining POF I'd have to share the whole back story and the back story has back story so at this point I will just say I had a good reference.  A good enough reference that the thought there may be more out there online than just weirdo's and skeezy men occurred to me.

Because I am me, and I am awesome, hilarity and hijinx ensued after I hit the “Finish” button on my profile the very fist time (when I joined, before I hid my profile).  I should probably preface this with a back story on that, as well, but really one can only endure so much public humiliation and mockery in one go so I'm just leaving you with a my profile and the little nugget that I am actively on an online dating site.

2012 Goal: Quarterly Update #1

With April here I figured I needed to check and see how I was doing on my 2012 Goals.

#1.  I am well into my goal to wear each pair of shoes I have (at least once).  I'm at 27 of 49 on my shoes and 1 of 23 on my flip flops.  I've actually worn more but some days I totally forget to document my "new" shoes.

I've worn several pairs of flips but only have documented one.  Now that it's warming up I'll be wearing them more so documentation should be easier to remember.  It seems that I started making a collage but never finish uploading it.  It actually happens more than you would think.  I start, get busy, remember late in the evening, start again and then fall asleep during the process.  Guess it's a good thing I'm not getting paid for this sort of thing.  I'd go hungry a lot otherwise.

Standing: Good.

#2. Get rid of things...sounds so easy but really when it comes down to it it's a lot harder than one would think.  I've cleaned out my closet a bit, as well as my dresser drawers.  I could certainly go through both a few more times (and probably will) but I have a good sized box of stuff I'm getting rid of.  I just need to start going through the part of my closets that aren't clothes.  The storage part of the closets is what really needs to be gone through. Man, I have to admit I dread that process.

Standing: Ok.

#3.  Go on a date... Yeah.  Does thinking about it count?  What about talking about it?  It should count a little.  I whole heartily had the intention to follow through but circumstances beyond my control got in the way.  I could have been more proactive but... sometimes those circumstances kick the shit out of you and being proactive has less to do with follow up and more to do with survival.

Could of.  Should of.  Would of.  Whatever.

Standing: Bad.

#4. Sew a 50's style dress.  I've come to realize that this goal is going to be pretty hard.  See... I don't own a sewing machine.  I do, however, have a sister who owns a sewing machine.  One I am not allowed to touch.  It's a bit of a bummer and a bit of a relief.  I mean, the thought of me operating a machine that's main function is fast moving needles... I sort of shudder at the thought.

I'm sure my sis would be happy to sew the dress for me and let me do all the other stuff.  Okay, really she'd have to help me figure out how to cut the pattern since I don't know how jack about sewing and patterns make about as much sense as when I look at a map...seriously how does that stuff make sense?!  She totally allows me to play with scissors...just not sewing machines.  It's probably a wise decision on her part.

I'm sure if I paid to have her old machine fixed she'd show me on that one but we (my niece and I) are not allowed to touch her new prettypretty sewing machine.  It's really not a personal thing against me or my lack of sewing knowledge.  At least no much.

I...er...we did do a DYI dress I found on Pinterest though.
Georgie (my sister) my seamstress.

The dress actually needs to be fixed before wearing.  Try and learn, right?!  I didn't cut the tank short enough so it's a bit weird.  To fix the weird waist part we just need to make a thicker belt.  I just need to go get the fabric and have my sister sew it up.  I absolutely love the way the skirt feels though.  Even if it hadn't turned out I've only spend $3 on the dress so far.  Okay, $4 counting the elastic thread I bought.  I'd say another $1 for the additional fabric.  So in total $5, not bad right?!  Especially considering I would have thrown out or given away the tank I used.

I'm actually excited to do another one in a maxi style.  I've been trying to find fabric to match purple or pink since I have a few tanks in each color but it's near impossible.  I found a black tank at Target on sale for $5 so I snagged it with the intention of using it for the maxi dress.  I would think black would make finding coordinating fabric easier but who knows.

Standing: Good,  I did do A dress.

#5. Finally making myself my no sew fleece blanket.

Standing: Bad.

#6. Get new glasses.

Standing: Bad.

#7.  Visit Bearizona.

Standing: Bad but Bearizona actually just reopened this month.

As first quarters go I'm thinking I'm not doing too bad.  I definitely needs to kick some of the goals into gear if I want to get anywhere with them by end of year.  Considering how crappy this year has been so far I'm going to give the overall standing of my 2012 Goals a Good though.

Between Friends #2

Good God, I love my BFF!

For some unknown reason I must document this text conversation as well. (#1, here)

Me: Dude next door* is out... He smokes. That is why he's always going to his car.
Karie: bummer!
M: Though he did just introduce himself...."Steve", in case I forget. Total bummer!
K: You have dated smokers previously. :)
M: Yes but I didn't like it. They seem to be unable to tell the truth about smoking.
K: True that!
M: Are you drinking?
K: How did you know? ;)
M: You go street on me when drinking.
K: Word!
M: Is this really happening & are you wearing clothes??
K: Yes!...(really you don't need the rest of the convo)

*Dude next door = new tenant next door at work.  Co-worker has been trying to play matchmaker & was convinced Dude next door* was always walking by to "catch a glimpse".  Not so!

Okay, well maybe a little as a bonus to sneaking smoke breaks.  He's always popping his head in our office so he's either super friendly or being a bit less nonchalant then I've been in the scoping things out area.  But what do I know.  I am horrible at reading signals from the opposite sex.  And by horrible, I mean horrible and AWKWARD.

iLove

Okay, I have a confession....

I'm dating my iPhone.  No, seriously.  I spend more time with my iPhone that I did with my last boyfriend.  My iPhone has a way better sleeping schedule, one tailored to mine.  Plus, I have to say my iPhone has way better musical taste, it never forces me to listen to Audioslave and favors Jack's Mannequin.  That's aways a plus in my book!  It's a good thing the two never overlapped, my preference is clear.  iPhone all the way!  YES!  The love is that serious.

The only bad thing about dating my iPhone is the fact that it doesn't have a job & won't pay for my steak dinner.  Nor does it kill bugs or do oil changes.  RUDE!  But I guess you can't have everything.  Though I'd pretty much kill for a steak right now.  Yeah, and maybe a trip to the Olive Garden for some YUMMY soup & salad (all you can eat style!).  So I'm obviously hungry & craving some things, sorry about that.

So my cat has a girlfriend, I'm dating my iPhone and I don't even have a real life human man to strike up a mild flirtation with.  I'm sure the the first two parts of my statement have a little to do with the last part but come on.  What's a girl gotta do around here to get a date??

I know I'm not hanging out in bars or clubs but that never got me dates in the past.  I don't go to bars or clubs for that reason. I go to hang with my friends and have fun with my friends, not gain the attention of some sleazy club Casanova.

Heh.  Maybe my last paragraph explains it all.  I'm a snob.  A closed off, unapproachable snob.  I automatically judge every guy who approaches me as some sleazoid or creep.  Someones got to find that cute, right?  I must say that most of the guys are sleazoid's and creepy ones to boot, but that leaves that small percentage that is not.  That small percentage that I never give a chance because I've been so overfed on sleazoid that I can't see anything else.

Have I met my Mr. Darcy and chased him off or discarded him somewhere along the way?   I've had my fair share of Daniel Cleaver's, so much so, that I'm not sure I could pick a Mr. Darcy out of the lot.  The time for my storybook romance has come and gone but that doesn't mean I don't want my own version of Mr. Darcy to share my time & interests with.  Finding that version, my version of Mr. Darcy is the reason for all of today's ramblings.

How do I find the Kerri version of Mr. Darcy?  How do I even put myself out there to find him?  Thoughts, suggestions or introductions would be greatly appreciated at this point.

Momma Deb (BFF's mom) is afraid that all my cat talk & cat photo postings on Facebook is going to cement my reputation as THE CRAZY CAT LADY.  God love her for it! but the truth is that I have been and always will be THE CRAZY CAT LADY.  It just is what it is and I've had that rep since the moment I got Parker (at 16).  That means for 17 years people have been teasing me about being THE CRAZY CAT LADY.  Besides, there's no one on my FB flist that doesn't already regard me as THE CRAZY CAT LADY or who is dateable.  So, sorry folks but all of you who are my FB friends you are stuck with the awesomeness that is all of my cat posts.

Sommer & Karie are convinced that I need to start on-line dating.  I think they need to shut their pie holes until they themselves have on-line dated.  How can they cheerleader something they've never done??  It's easy to say "Oh, that's something I'd totally do" until they are actually in the position to be able to on-line date.   I'd like to hear their willingness & readiness for on-line dating then!

I've heard all the success stories...mostly the ones about that friend of a friend or the sister of a guy who knows a guy.  I've, also, heard all the horror stories.  Experienced a lot of them second hand through actual friends.  Yes, there are on-line dating successes but that percentage is minimal.  Minut even.  I am not convinced that is the route for me.

I think I'm  way too shy to work that avenue successfully.  Besides I'm a snob, remember.  I see most guys profiles on dating sites and automatically think they're trolling for their next victim or sexual conquest.  The thought that they could be just like me with the same reasoning's is inconceivable.

I tried speed dating once.  Once was enough.  The adventure was an epic FAIL.  Besides, the amount of time given to chat with someone is just enough time to highlight my most awkward moments.  It takes me a while to get all that awkwardness out of the way.  You know, so more awkwardness can show itself but in a more cute & adorable way.

So what am I missing?  I'm not a coffee drinker, at least not in the true sense, so a meet cute in a coffee shop is sort of out of the question.  I tried picking up a guy (kid, turns out he was barely legal) in a book store (okay, it was more like a comic book geek who worked in a comic book store), another EPIC FAIL.  I've pretty much dated all the "dateable" people my my friends families (and mine).

So where else could I possible go to meet someone?  Again,
thoughts, suggestions or introductions would be greatly appreciated at this point.

Thank you and have a nice weekend!

Love Struck

It seems Remington has a girlfriend...

They grow up so fast, doesn't they?!

I recorded this with the intention of capturing him "talking" to her.  When she's out there he climbs to the window and sits there all morning (or as long as she's out there).  He makes these chirping, rooing, chatter noises at her...so stinkin' cute!  You can hear him at the very start but that's all I got, stupid video takes a moment to actually start recording.  Remi, also, always stops when I go over to the window.  So frustrating!!  LOL.

It took me a few days to realize he was actually in the window with the purpose of seeing HER.  I thought he'd just lost his mind or something.  Maybe pining away with grandeur of playing out in the grassy area in front of the window.  He's far more well behaved on the days he sits in the window staring at her.  I almost wish I could invite her in for a play date, maybe then he'd be a good boy and not torture Parker & Cyrus so much.

Unfortunately, I have no idea who she is or who her parents are.  I do believe she's a stray but she never lets me get close enough for a good enough look to see if she's all mangy like the other strays or if she's just an elusive house cat.  Since she's outside I'm guessing she's feral.  We have a large group of feral strays in our complex, non of which will let me get remotely friendly with them.

I find it funny that Remi sits and calls to her.  Parker has always attacked the windows when she's seen another cat outside and growls & hisses at them the whole time.  Cyrus just stairs, never making a move either way.  If they get too close to the window he freaks out and runs away to hide or he freaks & runs away when Parker attacks the window (or it'll eventually be him she attacks).  There's been a few times I was afraid she was going to break the arcadia door she hit it so hard.

Remington has always been a friendly cat though.  He walked right up to both Parker & Cyrus when we first brought him home like they'd known each other forever.  They didn't appreciate it but I thought it was cute.  I wonder what he would do if he actually encountered another cat face to face now that he is older.

Um...can I just say that my indoor cat has found a love interest and yet I can't even find someone to have a mild flirtation with.  It's a sad state of affairs my friends.  A sad state.
