Proof I Watch Too Much Criminal Minds
After reading though some of my POF responses I've discovered a very large tactical error on my part. One that will probably end up with me being the next story line for Criminal Minds.
If you recall I listed going to the park/bird preserve in my "About Me" section of my profile. I pride myself on being a "smart girl" and of taking care to not put myself in situations where I am an easy target for serial killers. Skills I like to think I honed while living in the same complex as Mesa's Serial Shooters. I know when I take photo's or post from the park I use the location tag but I figure I pretty much know who is watching me on Instagram and I am 99.8% positive that none of my Facebook friends are criminal intent stalkers or serial killers.
Why Criminal Minds? Well, if you've religiously watched the show, like I do, you too have learned all the nice places serial killers like to take their victims. If you've ever been to the Bird Preserve and really wandered around then you know that it is the perfect place for a serial killer to kill and dump a body. It's quite possible no one would ever find the body. If that happens we wander into the land of Bones, which I will try to stay clear of for this post to keep things less complicated and confusing. This is by no means an endorsement to any serial killers out there to actually use the bird preserve as a killing/dumping ground.
I am a cynical person so everyone on POF is suspect. If you are less suspect than others I will contact you back. If I feel like it. I'm not sure how between the three of us (Crystal, Karie & myself) we did not realize that my profile was going to be seen by men (which by default are men of suspect) who live in the area and may know of the bird park. I might as well have just placed a bright neon sign as my tag line that said, "PERFECT VICTIM WITH PERFECT BUILT IN KILLING/DUMPING GROUND. INQUIRE BELOW". Off hand I can already think of at least 5 of my favorite places (possibly 7 for the exceptionally talented serial killer) at the park that are ideal for raping/killing/dismembering/eating by a serial killer.
I have since rectified the error but now I am unsure how to proceed with the inquiries that I got mentioning the bird preserve. Do I ignore to be on the super safe side or do I let it play out and see if any murderistic tendencies show up during our chat?

Remember this and keep it in your heart.
"It is a mystery why we fall in love. It is a mystery how it happens. It is a mystery when it comes. It is a mystery why some loves grow, and it is a mystery why some loves fail. You can analyze this mystery and look for reasons and causes, but you will never do any more than take the life out of the experience.
Love is more than the sum of the interests and attractions and commonalities that two people share. And just as life itself is a gift that comes and goes in its time, the coming of love must be taken as an unfathomable gift that cannot be questioned in its ways.
You need to treat what love brings you with kindness. If you find yourself in love with someone who does not love you, be gentle with yourself. There is nothing wrong with you. Love just didn’t choose to rest in the other person’s heart.
If you find someone else in love with you toward whom you feel no love, feel honored that love came and called at your door, but gently refuse the gift you cannot return. Do not take advantage; do not cause pain. How you deal with love is how love will deal with you, and all our hearts feel the same pains and joys, even if our lives and ways are very different.
If you fall in love with another who falls in love with you, and then love chooses to leave, do not try to reclaim it or to assess blame. Let it go. There is a reason and there is a meaning. You will know it in time, but time itself will choose the moment.
Remember this and keep it in your heart. You don’t choose love. Love chooses you. All you can really do is accept it for all its mystery when it comes into your life. Feel the way it fills you to overflowing, then reach out and give it away. Give it back to the person who brought it to you. Give it to others who seem poor in spirit. Give it to the world around you in any way you can.
Love has its own time, its own season, and its own reasons for coming and going. You cannot bribe it or coerce it or reason it into staying. If it chooses to leave your heart or the heart of your lover, there is nothing you can do and nothing you should do. Be glad that it came to live for a moment in your life. If you keep your heart open, it will surely come again."

Wishing I had long nails...
Thanks to GS Lillian Daily & her Midweek Manicure series I now know of the water marble manicure craze. How I haven't heard of this before amazes me. Of course, I rarely paint my nails so maybe that's why.
Mostly because they end up looking like this...

Of course, this is day like day 4 or something but they pretty much looked like this the next morning after I painted them. Nail polish and my finger nails just don't get a long. It doesn't matter if I use a base & top coat or how many coats of polish I put on. It chips & starts peeling off within 24 hours...and by 24 hours I mean more like long before the 12 hour mark hits.
It doesn't help that I am not pro active when dealing with chipping nail polish, as you can tell from my 4 day old nail polish mess I am currently rocking. I just plain forget or am too busy (ie. lazy) to remember to take it off right away.
When I let it sit and continue to chip & peel off it ruins my nails. How that in itself isn't a motivator is beyond me. It's a struggle I've been having since Jr. High. My finger nails just aren't a priority. If I have any length to my nails prior to polish it will for sure be gone after polishing them. I have thin nails that peel often to begin with and nail polish just aggravates it. Right now it looks like I've chewed my nails off but I've never been a nail chewer. Nope, they've either broke down into my nail bed or they've had to be clipped down that low due to some sort of damage.
I've tried just about everything to help my nails (except I've never tried prenatal vitamins but that's totally next!). I'm beginning to think that it just is what it is, just like my super fine hair or my need for glasses.
Okay, enough of the rambling on about my super crappy nails, which really isn't what I wanted to talk about. Water Marble Nail Art is what I want to talk about. It's so stinkin' cool I can't stand it!! The possibilities of designs and color combos have no end. If I had long nails (or even nails that were beyond the end of my finger tips) I'd totally try Water Marble Nail Art!!
Seriously, check these videos out...
After checking out The Looks For Less: Manicure & Shelly's (GS Lillian) Pinerest nail art collection I am daydreaming of the day that I have nails long enough, the patience, and the ability to try some of this fantastic nail art ideas.
This may also mean I need a Pinerest account...

(Anyone notice it's hard to take a good picture of your hands? They end up looking all weird and alien like.)

When a heart breaks no it don't break even...
Excuse me while I get all melodramatic up in here. Maybe even a bit emo...
"They say bad things happen for a reason
But no wise words gonna stop the bleeding
'Cause she's moved on while I'm still grieving
And when a heart breaks no it don't break even even... no"
~ Breakeven by The Script
As the day's go by some things get better but at the same time some things are getting worse.
I walk around with a heavy heart...sad all the time. Some days it's easy to hide; while other days, like today, it's not.
I want you to be happy but it's hard watching you be happy without me.
I want you to love & be loved but it's hard not having you love me & being the one to love you.
I may (jokingly) dream of dating Zachary Levi, Paul Walker & Ryan Reynolds but that doesn't mean I don't wish at times that I was still dating you.
It's amazing I actually miss the annoying voices of all the fishing guys on the fishing shows you watched when I wasn't actively watching TV with you.
I miss your voice & the OBNOXIOUS laugh you are so famous for.
I miss the best friend and confidant you became over the past two years.
Knowing wemay be are both better off apart, especially in the long run, doesn't make it any easier. Especially, not when it is the most common standard condolence saying I hear.

Weird Encounters
Last night while running into Target to grab much needed cat food & a new laundry basket I had a very odd encounter with the cashier whose line I got into.
We did the normal pleasantries...
"Hi, how are you?"
"Fine, thanks. How are you?" and I sort of thought that was that.
Nope, while scanning my items the dude just randomly says,
"Girls are bad people!"
Um...okay. "Not all of them, and boys can be bad people too."
"Yeah," he said, "I just broke up with my girlfriend."
"That sucks. I just broke up with my boyfriend."
"Why?"
Oh, okay, we're really getting into this...*Sigh*
"Hum...we just weren't the right fit."
"Did you think he had a motor mouth?"
"Um...no..." ??
"Girls suck!"
*Uncomfortable laugh*
"You are too young to have girl problems."
"Yeah, maybe I should have been going out... running around...."
He looked no more than 17 years old and the way he said it made it seem to me that his girlfriend cheated on him or something. Poor guy.
Luckily, my transaction was done and there were now people behind me because I think he would have continued the odd conversation if he had been able to. I felt bad for the kid but I don't think the topic was one he should have been having with a complete stranger.
Then today I had a strange encounter at work. I was working...minding my own business... and my co-worker came in (she was out running an errand) and asks
"Do you have a computer chair in the back of my car?"
"Um...no."
"Are you sure?"
Hum, let me think about this one..."Um...No!"
"Huh, I swear that is your car out there...with a chair in the back."
So I go to the window and check. Sure enough there was a chair in the back of my car.
Seems there was an office in the building that was moving out this morning and they were using everyones car who worked there to load stuff up. Since my car was mixed in with theirs (I was parked in my spot before they got there) and was unlocked (it doesn't lock. Not unless I want it to stay locked FOREVER!) they just figured it was one of theirs.
I ran out there to let them know that that was not their car and the poor main guy was so embarrassed. It was funny but I felt bad for him. He apologized profusely. The young girls helping him thought it was HILARIOUS and kept giving him a hard time. I let him know I didn't care that they accidentally put it in my car but I didn't want to end up "stealing" their chair. LOL.
It gave us a good laugh at work this morning at least.

Luke 12:24
This is my new favorite necklace...
It says 'Luke 12:24' above the little bird...
"Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!"
I totally love this!!
Not too bad for being originally $7.99 at Hobby Lobby but they're having a 50% off sale right now on all Living By Faith jewelry, so it was only $3.99.
Score!!
Cheap but super cute & inspiring!

How Much Wood Would A Woodchuck Chuck If A Woodchuck Could Chuck Wood?
Disclaimer...the title has nothing to do with the subject of this post. It is what popped into my brain when the question of the title stared back at me waiting for an answer. I find it a bit appropriate because I do not think there is an answer for the poor woodchuck. And if I really admit it, there is no real answer to what it is I ponder today.
Have you ever noticed that as you get older making friends gets harder? It does, right...or is it just me? I've always been shy but even as a PAINFULLY shy child I easily made friends. I think the problem as an adult we have less opportunities to come into contact with people we can connect with. Or we're put into situations where we aren't really in the position to friend those we come into contact with. Plus, not everyone we connect with is someone we can relate to.
My job has me connecting with people on a daily basis but they aren't people I can relate to and even if I did I'm not in a position to befriend them. My motto has always been "I don't date clients but I will client dates". It sounds dirty but it isn't...really. No matter how your mind wanders toward the gutter, I am not a lady of the night. I can modify that to "I don't friend clients but I will client friends". If a situation happens when I do happen to turn a date/friend into a client it tends to eventually get awkward so I usually avoid doing either. Also, not that I am on the market to date. I am happily taken and have been for the past (almost) 2 years.
The bar, club or "normal" social scene for adults isn't necessarily the best place to meet new friends. At least not lasting ones. Or even reliable ones, as past experiences show. Most people in the "night scene" scenarios aren't out looking for new friends anyway. They're out on the prowl or are out to have a good time with the friends they ALREADY have. You might be able to make a momentary friend connection with another girl while waiting in line for the restroom but you aren't going to go grab coffee the next day with each other.
Any new friend I have made as an adult as been introduced to me by family or friends. Family and friends are a reliable source for finding great people but is there another way to make new friends?
Even making friends on-line seems to be a bit harder than one would think. Once you've made a connection it's usually easy to start on-line friendship but it's, also, just as easy to ignore that connection leaving any "real" friendship unmade. We all follow blogs of people we don't know (at least most of us do at some point). Whether it be some "celebrity" blogger like Dooce or the girls at GoFugYourself or just some random person you stumbled upon haphazardly. "Celebrity" bloggers don't leave much in the way of making a two-way friendship. We're still left on the outside in the voyeur position no matter how connected we may end up feeling.
I've found many of the people who do follow blogs tend to follow without actually following. It's a way to get more readers to their blog and that's it for them. No connections are made and most of the time no follow back is made.
I follow blogs for two reasons. One, because I find them interesting and relatable. Two, for the giveaways because hey, who doesn't like to win FREE stuff? I'm not going to lie, I have a lot of blogs I follow just for the giveaways alone but most of those blogs are blogs dedicated to reviews & giveaways only. While it's true I may have found blogs because of giveaways; it is also true that I actually read the ones who are not solely for reviews & giveaways. I stick around to continue to read because I've found some human interest we share. Some personality spark they've left on their blog has caught my eye and I want to find out more.
Those bloggers are the ones I'm never sure how to approach. Do I sit back quietly and just read? Or do I speak up when I have an urge to? I have done both on various blogs. Some bloggers have commented back and more of a connection has been made, which I find awesome. The problem I'm having is what to do from there? Do I just sit back and continue doing what I'm doing...keeping on keeping on, so to speak or do I somehow extend a stronger arm with an olive branch towards friendship?
How does one extend an interest in friendship? In real life the natural course is to ask for some type of outing you'd both enjoy...like meeting for coffee. What is proper etiquette for on-line? Do you revert back to Elementary School and comment something like..."Hey, I like you're blog...wanna be online friends?" What do you do that doesn't leave you feeling like an idiot. Or doesn't leave you completely feeling rejected when they don't respond or they respond but not in the way you were hoping for?
These are the things that run through my brain at night when I am NOT sleeping. I don't know if these ponderings are normal or if the lack of sleep and darkness have something to do with all the insecurities that swirl around in there at night. Whatever it is...it is.
Have you ever noticed that as you get older making friends gets harder? It does, right...or is it just me? I've always been shy but even as a PAINFULLY shy child I easily made friends.

Send some extra love to Japan
"This Week only, for every TheGivingKeys necklace u buy, we will send a duplicate one to Japan 4 our friends there 2 pass out on the streets! PLEASE Re Post on your pages cuz this is going to really encourage/love on Japan! Proceeds will still be going to our homeless couple! TheGivingKeys.com rules."
I know it's not a monetary donation but any encouragement would probably help at this point. Plus, it brings more awareness to Japan's struggles. I still haven't purchased my key yet but I'm hoping to do so this week so a duplicate key going to Japan is just an extra bonus.
What would you put on your key? Does the fact that a duplicate key would be going to Japan (if purchased this week) help determine what you would put on your key? Would it make you change your message or is your original message something helpful to whoever may receive it in Japan?
I'm still on the fence for my key message but the choices I'm trying to decide on would definitely be a good message for Japan.
Remember when I fist blogged about The Giving Keys here? Well Caitlin Crosby & The Giving Keys are doing something to encourage/love on Japan...

A Girl After My Own Heart
After letting my little wings flutter again I found a Southern Belle who I may have instantly fallen in love with, her website is HannahB.Design. Hasty, I know, but her blog I stumbled onto was about Cary Grant.
CARY GRANT!
Anyone who really knows me knows I have a big ol' soft spot for Cary Grant. They just don't make them like that anymore. I think George Clooney comes close but he's the only one I can think of who's Cary Grantesque.
Then not only do they not make them like Cary Grant anymore, no one knows or GETS Cary Grant now-a-days. That to me is a travisty!
So after reading I just had to share part of her entry with you, at least the Cary Grant 'rules to live by' quotes she shared. Because she gets it!

Cary Grant himself said, “Everyone wants to be Cary Grant. Even I want to be Cary Grant.”
“I improve on misquotation.”
"My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning, and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can."
"My father used to say, 'Let them see you and not the suit. That should be secondary.'"
"Ah, beware of snobbery; it is the unwelcome recognition of one's own past failings."

Fill in the Blank...
Today's blog content (fill in the blank questions) was stolen from GingiberSnap.
Hey, it's Monday...sometimes a girl needs a break.
The best meal I had this weekend: This week just started so I'll answer this for last week... Which is hard because I had some pretty awesome food last week. There was the Santa Fe Chicken from The Bistro 1528 and then there was Chelsey's tacos last night. Two totally different types of meals but both were to die for!
Sometimes I wish: life was as "easy" as it was when I was a kid living with my Nana & Pop.
The most interesting thing that happened today was: I don't think interesting is a word for today. Maybe interestingly enough I haven't killed myself or anyone else today. Yes, it's been one of THOSE days...
My favorite person to share a cup of coffee with: I don't normally drink coffee, though in the last month or so I've been drinking more coffee than I did all of last year, but I love sharing a cup of coffee with my sisters when we're all together. They were the only people I'd drink coffee with until Will & I started living together. I enjoy sharing a cup of coffee with him on the weekends. Also, now that I think of it the very first person(s) I enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee with was my Nana & Pop when I was a kid. I always felt so grown up, it was always decaf but I'd still have more sugar & creamer in it than coffee. Which come to think of it is exactly how I still drink it.
I used to be a morning person: until I stopped sleeping at night. If I sleep I never sleep more than 4 hours before waking up. Last night I laid in bed for 5 hours and most of it was spent staring at the ceiling, while petting Parker & Remington.
My goal for the month of April: is to clear away the darkness of Winter & get ready for Spring...whatever that means.
The best part of blogging is: getting all whatever's & whatnot's in my head out and sharing them...whether or not anyone else is reading them. It clears the cobwebs a bit.

Pay It Forward
Okay, I know I've kind of been hawking a lot of things lately. Seriously, it's for your own good. I have great taste so I feel the need to pass it on. Joking! Seriously though if I think something is cool I pass it on. When I stumbled onto The Giving Keys I couldn't keep it to myself. PAY IT FORWARD is their moto. How could I not share with you guys?
A great singer named Caitlin Crosby came up with The Giving Keys (FB link) and it's a wonderful idea. Here is her inspiration & idea in her own words ...
"I met this sweet homeless couple on Hollywood Blvd who have had a really tough life. After falling in love with their hearts, and how hard they're working to try and change their lives, I had an "Ah-Ha moment." I realized they were the missing link to The Giving Keys. So I asked them to be my business partners. After all, the whole concept is PAYING IT FORWARD" ... "When you buy this one of a kind necklace, you must give it away at some point, to a person who you feel needs the message that's on your key."
I really LOVE this idea! I want to get involved so to speak and buy a Giving Key necklace. The only problem is I'm not sure what word to put as the message. I'm torn between...courage, faith, love or something else.
Once you buy your key, wear it, and find someone else to give it to you can go back to The Giving Keys and post your Giving Key story. How neat is that?! Pretty neat I think!

Does anyone have any ideas? What one word would you put on your Giving Key?
